I'll get Gamera - Showa Era as I didn't bother with the overstuffed LE
[REC] I'll probs pick up in a sale
Don't know about Southland Tales? - never seen it and it seems very marmite judging by the online feedback.

It's a typically bland and uninspiring January line-up.

Nothing there for me, not even [REC]. I'm happy with the 10 year old E1 Entertainment Blu-ray I have had since December 2010.

I’ve got that too, so I’ll probably wait for a sale to pick it up, tbh I’ve not watched the film in well over 5 years, so I’m in no rush for another copy at the minute

I know they can’t please everyone, and some folk will be happy with this announcement, but long gone are the days when the entire announcement would get preordered

I'm most certainly interested in the Park Chan-wook film JSA, I do really like [REC] but I don't think it has re-watch value.

I am very curious about Southland Tales but nervous that a lot of people think it;s trash, I have the DVD (unwatched) so I think I'll watch it before I decide.

I've only seen it once when I rented the DVD, writing this mini review:

Southland Tales – As a huge fan of Donnie Darko, I was looking forward to seeing Richard Kelly’s next film but never quite got around to it. I was especially interested in seeing just how warranted the critical mauling it received was. It is almost beyond dispute that Southland Tales is a muddled, confused and overlong mess which was badly cast and horribly edited. I can understand that some will love it and say that if you don’t like it, it’s because you don't get it. I got it, it’s just sad to see someone with the obvious talent that Kelly possesses getting bogged down in this sub-Lynchian post-apocalyptic time travel film that seems to be rehashing the same material he used to great effect in his debut. Maybe this could be a great film with cut material edited into the existing movie, but I doubt it.

I think that's the one which is most likely to end up in my collection. I have the Tartan Asia Extreme DVD which I probably haven't seen in a decade. I'll give it a watch before deciding whether it's a film I want to upgrade to Blu-ray.

JSA is a great movie. I’ll definitely be upgrading the old Tartan DVD for this. The rest is just the usual filler we’re getting accustomed to as of late. There’s so many great choices out there that haven’t seen the light of day on blu-ray and we’re getting Rec. Glad to be saving money though.
