Discs 1 and 2 are identical to each other and disc 3 is exclusive to Arrow, so the Arrow 'Nasty' edition is the better of the two, but those buying the standard retail version, they are identical.

Some curiosities!

Disc Three (Limited “Nasty” Edition Exclusive):

High Definition (1080p) Blu-ray presentation of the Theatrical Version from a 2K scan of an uncut British internegative, in widescreen and ‘exposed open matte’ presentations with original lossless mono audio

Cinema Mode: Watch the film with a recreation of an opening cinema programme from the early-1980s

VHS Mode: Watch the film in a transfer of the original ‘video nasty’ VHS release, with uncut and censored options

Look forward to the 4K release of Battle Royale the VHS Transfer.

Followed six months later by Battle Royale the VHS Transfer Time Code Cut.

I didn’t even realise there was a disc three when I ordered it, got it just for the ‘nasty’ artwork. I reckon the cinema pre-show reel might be pretty fun.

It'll be the same as those Mill Creek Drive-In box sets where you watch with ads for popcorn and drinks as well as trailers for other movies. I watched the first one i bought for the novelty then never again.

The 88 release of “Drive-In Massacre” (or is it Nail Gun Massacre??) also has a VHS transfer. I think it’s quite fun to watch it all grainy. Novelty though, for sure. Wouldn’t want all my expensive buys to be in such a condition. I’ll definitely watch it though. Might even prefer it!

Ah the good old days of crap VHS transfers and endlessly adjusting the tracking. it's like all those people who think the 1950s was all sunny uplands, with idyllic picnics and lashings of ginger beer... no it wasn't... it was shite... and so was VHS
