I've been reading reviews of DAY OF THE TRIFFIDS.
Not good. Same old crap picture but this time the scope picture has been cropped to full screen.

The 'second sight' disc seems to still be the best (crappy) version out there and at least it is in scope.

I reviewed it over on the What Films Have You Seen? thread. It's quite poor in places. To be honest the film isn't that wonderful either. I found it disappointing in comparison to the two BBC series.

Had i seen it before 28 Days later and the BEEB productions then i would have liked it more. It seemed underwhelming in comparison.

A good reference point for me is The Thing From Another World. I didn't rate that at all, possibly as i was so familiar with the Carpenter film, however over the years that has really grown on me to the point i find it the equal of the Carpenter production now.

do not buy the recent release of Day of the Triffids. i have it on good authority that the movie is being remastered for blu and it will look great. no idea why Screenbound felt the need to release this before the remaster was ready unless they are close to their rights running out?
