Screenbound Pictures / Odeon Entertainment 26 Attachment(s) With all the focus on this site being on Arrow and Shameless with good reason, i thought i would just give a little push to Odeon Entertainment who have an excellent selection of horror titles ranging from the thirties to the seventies. They seem to release plenty of very good films most of which just slip by the radar due to lack of publicity. All the discs come with informative booklets and a small amount of extras. Here are Odeon Entertainment's horror titles. |
Good company, had a few of their releases in the past. They used to distribute Something Weird titles over here. Their DVD of Pete Walker's COOL IT CAROL is really good. http://dv1.us/p1/650/116650-d0.jpg |
Mumsy, Nanny, Sonny, & Girly is a personal favourite of mine  . . . |

Is that version of Hatchet For The Honeymoon more recent than the Anchor Bay release? Straight reissue or different? |

They have also released some cult westerns like HANNIE CAULDER and A MAN CALLED NOON: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpghttp://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpg |

The film is full of naked girls, kinky sex, and orgiastic witchcraft. The film was originally banned by the British censors. ...and yes Vicki does get fully naked. |

I think they licensed some titles/transfers from Scorpion/Code Red? - Mumsy Nanny Sonny & Girly - Goodbye Gemini - Say Hello To Yesterday - The Statue http://a.dv1.us/p1/272/161272-d0.jpg http://a.dv1.us/p1/483/149483-d0.jpg |
Or they both had access to the same catalogue. |
I've been wondering about this but the materials used seem to be US. I'll have to ask Bill... ;) |
I've got and watched Goodbye Gemini, which ain't that great a flick, but I was impressed with the extras and informative booklet - something that is so lacking by many distributors unfortunately. |

Odeon and CR also released A DAY AT THE BEACH http://c.dv1.us/p1/978/104978-d0.jpghttp://a.dv1.us/p1/634/113634-d0.jpg According to DVD Delirium Vol 4 the Odeon disc is a 4:3 open matte transfer. |

Thanks for the info Pete. :thumb: Odeon released A Day at the Beach first,is that one oop now? CR's is widescreen anamorphic - 1.75:1 but may (haven't watched it yet) be a bit tightly matted, they used a US print I think. |
...needless to say, the Witchfinder General Blu is well on my radar. The screenshots I've seen of it's restoration are pretty stunning - hoping they give some of their other titles the same treatment (Blood on Satan's Claw please ) . . . |
Ah,that would be nice... |

As usual, this is highly subjective, but as a help for the uninitiated, I recommend the following from their Horror range: You can’t go wrong with these: - Hatchet for the Honeymoon - Witchfinder General - Isle of the Dead - The Body Snatcher - Dr Terror’s House of Horrors If you’ve got money left, try these as well: - Blood On Satan’s Claw - Bedlam - The Black Torment - The Flesh and Blood Show - Sweeney Todd – The Demon Barber of Fleet Street Greetings! |

I actually just received my first Odeon release in the post this morning - Secrets of Sex. I've been wanting to see this after reading about it at the British Horror website, and after checking out the blurb on the DVD, I have to say it sounds, er, mental, quite frankly. :) Looking forward to sitting down and watching it. :pop2: |
Give it a review on here when you watch it DD. |

I have the old US Synapse dvd (as Bizarre). :) Does the UK dvd also have Balch’s early black & white experimental short films – “Towers Open Fire” (1963) and “The Cut Ups” (1966) – which feature author William S. Burroughs as an actor? |

Free film. 2 Attachment(s) My order for Mermaids of Tiburon arrived today. Inside is a card to fill in asking you which films you would like to see Odeon release and which genre you are interested in. I would guess the card is in all of Odeon's 2012 new releases. If you fill it in and send it back you will recieve a new dvd which is not currently available of a 1945 RKO pictures film called Step by Step. The film stars Lawrence Tierney (Reservoir Dogs) and its brief synopsis is as follows - Johnny, an ex-marine, and Evelyn, a chance acquaintance, find themselves caught up in a Nazi spy ring in California. Fyi i picked The Ghoul, The Mutations, and What Became of Jack and Jill as three films i would like to see released off the top of my head. |

I'm still hoping that Warners will see it in their hearts to tart up Bad Ronald, Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark and several others too... |
