Yeah bought it when it first came out Wes,but I remember Mr Morris talking about the rights for a UK release. It'd be nice to see this get an uncut outing on these shores. Warner or whoever owns it though prices will no doubt be madness or refuse to license it out.... |
Yeah, I'm thinking of the old Warners Angel of Vengeance clamshell box... For a major film maker, Abel Ferrara is underappreciated on DVD. The last time I checked his main body of work was scattered across a rag-tag bunch of below-the-rader budget releases... For what it's worth I think Driller Killer is a classic of New York grunge film making. |
1 Attachment(s) Yeah I'm tempted to pick up this Raro release. The Driller Killer: Amazon.it: Carolyn Marz, Baybi Day, Harry Schultz, Alan Wynroth, Abel Ferrara: Film e TV |
I wonder could the film look any better that say the Cult Epics disc ? Ferrara once described Driller Killer as "scratchings on the cave wall", but I think the film is a masterwork, and stands well apart from fellow jailbirds on the Nasties list... |

I had that German release, picked it up for £15 from a local indie DVD shop. |
Steering this back to Nucleus, any fans of Death Ship ? I've always wanted to see this one but was always a little pricey. |

Well worth picking up. It has a commentary, a 42 minute doc, deleted scenes, uncensored scenes + much more. |
Yeah,another winner. |
Is there any plans to release a follow-up to The Video Nasties set featuring the ones listed in Section 3, Marc? IMO, it is one of the best DVD releases ever and a second one would be an instant purchase for me. Btw, you wouldn't know who currently owns the rights to The Mad Foxes? |

DPP Section 3 titles |
Seriously. The Thing was on that list?! What a nutty time to be a film collector. |

I remember during the height of the James Bulger scare in the mid-90's, one MP (whose name I can't recall right now) seriously suggested that all 18-cert films be removed from the video shops, until a collegue suggested this would have to include films like The Godfather, where upon the MP quietly withdrew his suggestion... |
I think his name was David Alton. |

I knew that Section 3 list would derail this thread somewhat so back to Nucleus business. I think one of the best things about the Video Nasties set (and I gushingly mentioned her in my review) is Patricia MacCormack who gives excellent intelligent commentary on her selection of films. Does she appear on any other DVD extras, she's really terrific ! |
We're interviewing her on Saturday for volume 2. She can also be seen on the BFI's release of Maîtresse, amongst other releases. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpg I really regret leaking that Section 3 list when I did - it ruins the surprise of Nasties Volume 2. Before we stumbled upon it, it was unknown amongst fans and collectors. |

Yes, as I already said, we're working on it now. |

We look forward to it Marc, thanks for the heads up on the BFI disc ! Many thanks Paul ! |

Just checking  Anyway, from the look of that list, the set will be awesome! |
We have a Video Nasties Facebook page, so if you want to be kept in the loop sign up to it. --> Video Nasties: The Definitive Guide |

To go back to my previous post (And to sound like a stuck record), do you know if Edwin C Dietrich still retains the rights to The Mad Foxes? Thank you. |

Interestingly, at this time, Blockbuster also stated that they wanted to become more family-orientated and also suggested that they would be happy to stock nothing higher than a 15. Certainly glad that never happened. I guess this is why I've never been a big fan of Blockbuster, together with that maniac David Alton they nearly ruined the UK home video scene. |
