i wish they were with hmv cause it's not the same without them because there is not enough boutique films labels in the uk like 88 and arrow that are releasing films i want i am in there for about 5 minutes and then i am out again i used to be in there for about a hour but now i hardly go anymore and when i do i get depressed that they are not there anymore cause we need them in hmv 88 films are great and so are arrow sometimes shameless don't release the much movie criterion don't release films that i want cult films are slow at releasing films and when they do they are not the films i want powerhouse are slowly returning to hmv 101 films are average releases i forgot what the reason was if there was one i know it was something about hmv going into receivership but that can't be just all i miss them when they are not there

Soz, I just did a Google search and thought I saw an entry for HMV.

Hope you got it sourced from somewhere?

I realised i've never actually seen it. I was confusing it with other films. Really looking forward to watching it.

Just three left at Amazon / Eureka now.
Arrived this afternoon. Going to watch that this coming weekend.

Good Saturday afternoon matinee. It meanders a little, but Mason is always worth a watch.

There's just a single copy of Cockleshell Heroes now at Amazon. It's now out of print at Eureka themselves.

Priced £9.84.

It's strange that these old style war pictures don't get deluxe treatments the same as horror films. I seem to remember that in the day they were even more popular. Is it that the audience has simply died off?

These film were on the tv all the time when i was growing up or they seemed to be. I was introduced to war films and westerns by my folks.

I don't think they get the same exposure that they did. The same goes for horror from the same period as well. They've become lost a bit i think and it's collectors who will keep them alive. All ITV show is Bond and Harry Potter and the BBC seem to show a lot of modern films rather than any older ones. There are some on a t weekends and national holidays but not like it was in the 70's to 90's.

Now especially i think they are getting lost in a world of disposable tv series thanks to Netflix, Prime and Disney. Series that everyone will have forgotten about a year later (A week in many cases) never mind fifty years later.

Although i have a substantial war and western collection on dvd (Well over a hundred of each) i never planned on upgrading any. However now i feel very different now i know generally how good they look in HD thanks to being produced on excellent film stock at the time and shot in the real world rather than via green screen.

I'm excited to rewatch these films again. It's like a voyage of rediscovery.
