Found out yesterday that Ron Benson, the owner of Eureka and founder of Benson's World, one of the first UK mail order specialists for film, has died
Sad news. He was a proper stalwart of the U.K. Video industry.

That's sad news. I used to order loads from Mr Benson's as i think it was called in the early days.

Ah, I didn't know he was the same Benson of Benson's World. The glory days of the UK home video industry (along with Brittania Music) as far as I'm I'm concerned. R.I.P

Demdike, you're right.

One of my first purchases on video was an ex-rental copy of FULL METAL JACKET from there.

Stephen, I used to be a video buyer for Britannia - was a great job but the rot had well and truly set into the company by then (Universal had sold it to a private equity firm that basically stripped it to nothing before flogging it on). A real shame.
