A Warning To The Curious last night-absolutely superb.

Stalls of Barchester tonight!

The Signalman was also superb!

Stigma,I've seen slagged off quite often,but I enjoyed it.
It was a sinister attempt to modernise the tales.

The Ice House wasn't bad.Not the best of the box.

BTW-Anyone who wants to read about these classics IN DEPTH,pick up a copy of this....

I agree Reaps - a Warning To The Curious is brilliant. The Ash Tree and Lost Hearts are also terrific. I remember watching Lost Hearts on telly as a kid and it scared the shit out of me! Those two ghostly kids still give me the shivers.

I've just started digging into this set, loving it so far. I watched" whistle and I'll come to you" both versions last night and " the stalls at Barchester" tonight. The Christopher Lee version is pretty good too but looking at the DVD description, there's only a few of those included. How many were made?

The collected films of cult poet and novelist B.S. Johnson head up the BFI’s DVD and Blu-ray release schedule for April-June 2013.


This April the much-admired Flipside strand makes its highly anticipated comeback with the release of two typically exciting editions focusing on little-known films of great importance. The latest editions focus on the films of cult British poet and novelist B. S. Johnson and a number of controversial works by acclaimed filmmaker John Krish (The Elephant Will Never Forget, I Think They Call Him John).

Although perhaps best known for groundbreaking novels such as The Unfortunates and Christy Malry’s Own Double-Entry, B.S. Johnson was also the director of a number of extraordinary and daring films that have been out of circulation for decades. You’re Human Like the Rest of Them brings these rare and fascinating works together for the first time, revealing Johnson to have been as radical and inventive a filmmaker as he was a writer. The set includes new HD transfers of such films as Paradigm and Fat Man on the Beach, and also features the newly-rediscovered BBC adaptation of Johnson’s play Not Counting the Savages (1972), directed by Mike Newell.

I have deep end and thought that was fantastic but as they're currently quite cheap at Sainsbury's I need some more recommendations from you all.

What other titles would you recommend?

Man of Violence is great and has a whole other Pete Walker film, Strip Poker, as an extra. I also recommend Primitive London or London in the Raw. Really wild! I would also put a nod for Her Private Hell, but that's mainly because I wrote some of the booklet notes!

Thanks, I'll check some of those out. I'm also quite fancying the black panther.

All of the aformentioned are the cream of the crop of BFI, and thats setting the bar extremely high!
