"Justin Vanier (Billy Blanks) is a highly trained and deadly agent for an elite police force known as the Federal Security Bureau. After a fellow undercover agent turns up dead, Justin is recruited to infiltrate a high tech martial arts training facility known as the Virtual Arts Academy, where students are trained in combat situations using virtual reality. Once inside the facility, Justin is to make contact with another undercover agent named Eric (Jalal Merhi) who believes that the academy is really a front for a team of hired assassins run by their power hungry leader, Warbeck. With fear of their covers getting blown, Justin and Eric must face off with computer generated opponents in a series of simulated fights that have real-life consequences.

"Remar (George Clooney) and Attila (Dog Savant) are best friends living in California. They spend their days surfing, partying, and running drugs for a ruthless gangster named Calavera. After finding out his girlfriend is pregnant, Remar must choose between living life in the fast lane or settling down to take care of his family. 'Voyage Of The Rock Aliens' (1984) - Blu-ray available from Vinegar Syndrome direct - $27.99

"A group of aliens in a guitar shaped spaceship are on the hunt to find the true source of Rock n’ Roll. After spotting teenage DeeDee and her boyfriend Frankie, each of whom are vying to become the top rocker in the small town of Speelburgh, the aliens land, only to set off of an increasingly strange series of events and musical mayhem that threatens the very existence of the town itself!

Starring the legendary actress and singer Pia Zadora (Butterfly, Hairspray) in what might be the wildest and wackiest role of her career, James Fargo’s (Every Which Way But Loose) VOYAGE OF THE ROCK ALIENS is a nearly unclassifiable smorgasbord made up of one part rock musical, one part sci-fi insanity, and one part 50s kitsch through an 80s glam lens. 'Scared To Death' (1980) - Blu-ray available from Vinegar Syndrome direct - $27.99

"Ted Lonergan thought he had quit the force to pursue a career as a writer. But when someone - or something - begins stalking and viciously killing the residents of Los Angeles, Ted is asked to lend his expertise in uncovering the mystery assailant. However, things aren’t as simple as they appear, as Ted discovers that the predator he’s after is in fact a first of its kind, and a rapidly evolving genetically mutated organism known as the Syngenor. Enlisting the help of Sherry Carpenter, a scientist specializing in genetics, the unlikely duo start tracking the tedious mutant in the hope of destroying it before the body count continues to rise or even worse: before it breeds.

The first feature directed by acclaimed horror filmmaker William Malone (Creature), SCARED TO DEATH skillfully blends sci-fi and creature action with early slasher tropes all set against the grimy world of early 80s Los Angeles. Never given an official disc release and long relegated to muddy VHS copies, Vinegar Syndrome is thrilled to offer SCARED TO DEATH on Blu-ray in a beautiful new 4K restoration of its original 16mm camera negative, jam packed with newly produced extras!"

'Red Lips' (1995) - Released by Saturn's Core, blu-ray available from partner label Vinegar Syndrome direct - $27.99

"This special limited edition embossed and spot gloss slipcover is limited to 2,000 units and is only available here at VinegarSyndrome.com!

Saturn's Core Audio & Video is a New Jersey based home video label devoted to releasing underground oddities and shot on video cinema on VHS, and now, blu-ray discs! In partnership with OCN Distribution, Saturn's Core will exhume forgotten or under-seen genre cinema from the 80s and 90s, with an emphasis on SOV horror features. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing this diverse and unique home video line!

Desperate for cash, young Caroline (Ghetty Chasun) agrees to be injected with an experimental serum by an unscrupulous blood bank doctor. She soon finds herself transformed into a ravenous vampire, stalking the streets of New York City with an unquenchable lust for blood. After killing her doctor and a random string of unfortunate strangers, Caroline crosses paths with Lisa (Michelle Bauer), an innocent woman stranded in the city after a breakup with her former girlfriend. The two broke and star-crossed lovers navigate through the city’s desolate clubs and hotels, fueled only by their sexual lust and symbiotic need for companionship. When Lisa finally learns of Caroline’s murderous proclivities, she becomes a willing participant in her vampiric crimes, until an unfortunate encounter with an indignant pimp leads to tragedy.

Written and directed by SOV legend Donald Farmer (Demon Queen, Scream Dream), Red Lips marked the onscreen confluence of two iconic scream queens: legendary ‘80s siren Michelle Bauer (Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers) and the awe-inspiring ‘90s enigma Ghetty Chasun (Gorotica). With an astonishing supporting cast of cult movie luminaries including Kitten Natividad (Beneath the Valley of the Ultra-Vixens), George Stover (Nightbeast), Danny Fendley (Deadly Run), Lorissa McComas (Stormswept), Christine Cavalier (Bloody Creek), and Mandy Leigh (Bloodscent), Red Lips quickly gained a reputation as a notorious, sex and gore filled, underground classic that is notable as one of the springboards for the SOV lesbian vampire movie explosion, which dominated video shelves and convention tables throughout the 1990s and beyond."

'Final Flesh' (2009) - Released by AGFA + Drag City, blu-ray available from partner label Vinegar Syndrome direct - $27.99

"This special limited edition embossed and spot gloss slipcover is limited to 2,000 units and is only available here at VinegarSyndrome.com!

The American Genre Film Archive (AGFA) represents the world's largest theatrical catalog of exploitation cinema. Their home video line presents a diverse selection of movies, ranging from new preservations of classics from the vast library of Something Weird to the wildest in shot-on-video (SOV) titles. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing this diverse and unique home video line!

FINAL FLESH is unlike anything you’ve ever seen—on Earth or other places. In the early 2000s, Vernon Chatman (co-founder of the PFFR art collective, co-creator of WONDER SHOWZEN and XAVIER: RENEGADE ANGEL, and producer of SOUTH PARK) wrote a four-part screenplay about a family who lives adjacent to the Ground Zero of a thermonuclear disaster. Instead of sharing the finished script with Hollywood, Chatman sent each part to four different companies that specialize in custom adult fetish videos. And FINAL FLESH was born. Like the custom song poem craze of the 1970s, this metaphysical brain-stabber is an outsider miracle of Biblical proportions. Filled with nudity, brilliant sight gags, rubber monster masks, inventive toilet humor, and no sex, this is a surrealist spectacle of the highest order."

Special features and specs:

"This special limited edition spot gloss slipcover (designed by Tony Stella) is limited to 2,000 units and is only available here at VinegarSyndrome.com!

Deaf Crocodile is an L.A.-based Distribution + Restoration company focused on New, Independent, Lost/Unseen and World Cinema with a special interest in Animation, Cult Horror + Fantasy, LGBTQ films, and the work of neglected and underrepresented Filmmakers from across the spectrum. The company was founded by film restoration expert Craig Rogers and distributor / exhibitor Dennis Bartok. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing Deaf Crocodile's brand new line of home video releases!

What is Time? What is Memory? Are we in the past or present -- or some strange, unknowable hybrid of the two haunted by arsonists, bloodsuckers, serial killers and phantom images of our own selves? The films of Iranian director Shahram Mokri straddle the line between genre and arthouse cinema, whether Moebius strip-like meditations on classic 1970s American slasher films (FISH & CAT), political thrillers (CARELESS CRIME), 1980s New Wave sci-fi/vampire movies (INVASION), or offbeat Jarmusch-meets-Tarantino indie mysteries (ASHKAN, THE HOLY RING & OTHER STORIES). It’s small wonder that Abbas Kiarostami in his last film, 24 FRAMES, left a cryptic message onscreen in Persian that simply read: “Shahram Mokri.”"

"This special limited edition embossed and spot gloss slipcover is limited to 2,000 units and is only available here at VinegarSyndrome.com!

Dekanalog is a film and soundtrack distribution company dedicated to the release of the most unique filmmaking voices and musical scores from around the world. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing this diverse and unique home video line!

A present-day fable for the increasing disconnect we find in urban life, Hirokazu Kore-eda’s Air Doll transports the Galatea myth to present day Tokyo. A life-size air doll (Bae Doona, The Host) lives in a shabby apartment in Tokyo. She cannot speak, nor can she move. But she is the only companion her middle-aged master has. He talks to her, puts her in a bath, and makes love with her every day after he returns from work. This routine life is disrupted when fantasy turns into reality. The air doll suddenly comes to life, filled with a soul. Like a newborn baby, she doesn’t understand what is going on around her, but she sees a world waiting to be explored outside the apartment. Eventually venturing to the outside world, the air doll is fascinated by everything she sees, and though she meets many people in all walks of life, they can’t seem to provide her an answer to what “being alive” means. When the air doll wanders into a video store, her world is forever changed. She meets Junichi (Arata Iura, After Life), the clerk, and immediately falls in love with him. The air doll begins working in the store and everyday, she and Junichi become closer. They go to the movies and explore the city together…like a couple. Everything is going perfectly for the air doll, until one day when her hand is accidentally cut and she begins to deflate in front of Junichi… A romantic fantasy that explores the complexities of love and loss, joy and pain, fantasy and reality, this bittersweet love story examines the intricacies and frailties of human existence. Adapted from the manga by Yoshiie Goda and featuring breathtaking cinematography from Mark Lee Ping-Bing (In The Mood For Love)."

'Forbidden Love: The Unashamed Stories Of Lesbian Lives' (1992) - Released by Canadian International Pictures, blu-ray available from partner label Vinegar Syndrome direct - $30.49

"This special limited edition slipcover is limited to 1,000 units and is only available here at VinegarSyndrome.com!

From arthouse to Canuxploitation, Canadian International Pictures (CIP) is devoted to resurrecting vital, distinctive, and overlooked triumphs of Canadian cinema. This label is focused on the country’s original cinematic boom years – spanning the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s – occasionally venturing past that period (and the country’s borders) to highlight the films of Canada’s most inspired actors and filmmakers. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing CIP's brand new line of home video releases!

30th anniversary special edition

In the 1950s, a wave of lesbian pulp literature emerged, exploring a then taboo subject in vivid, sensationalistic detail. While these writers often took a critical, moralistic view of gay life, they provided a jumping-off point for women still discovering their suppressed sexual desires. But with society unwilling to grant them a place in public life, they channeled their passion for these novels into a vibrant underground culture full of distinctive codes, roles, and rituals. Mirroring the shadowy traditions of noir fiction, they also faced violent opposition from police and other protectors of the status quo, resulting in a dangerous, but ultimately liberating path to sexual awakening.

Mixing lively testimonials from unforgettable women at the forefront of mid-century lesbian bar culture with scripted segments that take the Hollywood melodrama in provocative (and sexually explicit) new directions, Forbidden Love: The Unashamed Stories of Lesbian Lives is an eye-opening cultural history – and one of the most memorable Canadian films of the ’90s. With a soundtrack of late ‘50s and early ‘60s hits by The Fleetwoods, Connie Francis, Jimmie Rodgers, and The Shirelles, this is a stirring, funny, and ultimately moving portrait of rebellion flourishing in the face of repression."

"This special limited edition slipcover is limited to 1,000 units and is only available here at VinegarSyndrome.com! There is no standard edition and it will not be re-pressed.

Pulse Video is a France based, genre film focused boutique label which specializes in creating ultimate home video releases of cult and X rated films. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is excited to help bring their extra features loaded editions across the Atlantic!

The first collaboration between Jess Franco and Brigitte Lahaie! Lorna and Tom are a couple of low life hustlers who make a living in the skin trade. Setting their sights on the naive Jenny, they coax the beautiful virgin home from a nightclub for an evening of debauchery, only to drug and sell her into a white slave network. However, they quickly discover that her father is a millionaire and, hoping for an even bigger payday, decide to demand a hefty ransom. But now they’re left with a problem, as they must kidnap Jenny back from the pimps who now ‘own’ her... From the perverse mind of Jess Franco comes Je Brule de Partout, a brutal tale of sexual torment and revenge, set against the picturesque backdrop of Lisbon. Starring the queen of Eurocult and French eroticism, Brigitte Lahaie (Faceless), and one of Franco’s most captivating muses, Susan Hemingway, in the role of Jenny, Pulse Video proudly presents the worldwide Blu-ray debut of this borderline surreal and completely sadistic drama, newly scanned in 2K and carefully restored to repair severe technical errors in the negative which have plagued all earlier presentations."

'Horror High' (1972) / 'Stanley' (1973) - Blu-ray available from Vinegar Syndrome direct - $29.99

"This special limited edition embossed slipcover (designed by Earl Kessler Jr.) is limited to 6,000 units and is only available here at VinegarSyndrome.com!

In the early 70s, independent filmmakers based in the American south found a fruitful way to make a living in low budget horror movies destined for the drive-in market. Reveling in lurid and absurd concepts, these films are just as much windows into the cultures which bred them as they are wild rides into the most outlandish areas of exploitation cinema. Vinegar Syndrome’s Drive-In Collection presents these two classics of regional horror together on Blu-ray for the first time.

In Larry Stouffer’s Texas lensed HORROR HIGH (1973), bespectacled chemistry nerd Vernon Potts is the target of non-stop bullying from his fellow students and teachers alike, with his only true friend being the class guinea pig, Mr. Mumps. While conducting an experiment using Mr. Mumps as a test subject, Vernon discovers a formula that turns the harmless creature into a snarling beast. After being caught, he drinks the formula himself, transforming into a bloodthirsty killer and begins brutally slaying all those who wronged him. Starring Pat Cardi (TV’s It’s About Time) and Austin Stoker (Assault on Precinct 13), HORROR HIGH hits Blu-ray newly restored in 2K and finally presented in its legendary and fully uncensored version, restoring all the additional bloodshed deemed too extreme by the MPAA!

William Grefé has maintained one of the longest and most diverse careers in exploitation history, all but creating Florida’s exploitation film industry. In STANLEY (1972), his answer to the ‘animals attack’ film craze, Cliff Robinson stars as Tim, a quiet Seminole who finds his life turned upside down by vicious poachers who begin to kill his beloved snakes. Harnessing his powers over them, he uses the slithering creatures to exact murderous revenge against all those who wronged him, eventually kidnapping the daughter of a wealthy business man who is determined to push Tim off of his land… Balancing social commentary with suspense and action, STANLEY co-stars Alex Rocco (The Godfather) and makes its Blu-ray debut from a new, 2K restoration of its original negative."

'Cloak And Dagger' (1984) - Blu-ray available from Vinegar Syndrome direct - $44.99

"We are excited to finally reveal our third VSU release: Richard Franklin's 'kid in peril' arcade-action classic, CLOAK & DAGGER! This loaded Limited Edition 4k UHD/BD box includes a brand new, extended making-of documentary featuring new interviews with cast and crew and is housed in our gorgeous deluxe VSU magnet case with incredible custom artwork by Haunt Love. The case also includes a 40-page perfect bound book featuring an interview with screenwriter Tom Holland and an essay by Justin LaLiberty.

Davey Osborne is an average 11-year-old boy with an overactive imagination. He spends his days playing video games and pretending to be a spy with his imaginary father-figure, Jack Flack - a substitute for his real father, who is struggling with the recent death of Davey's mother. However, fantasy becomes reality for Davey after he witnesses the murder of an FBI agent, who in his dying breath, gives Davey a mysterious video game cartridge called Cloak & Dagger, which in actuality contains top-secret government information. With the help of his younger friend Kim, the tech savvy Morris, and even a little help from his fictional secret agent mentor, Davey must stay one step ahead of pursuers as he tries to survive a real-life game of espionage in the streets of San Antonio, Texas.

A nostalgia laden cult favorite from director Richard Franklin (Patrick, Psycho 2) and writer Tom Holland (Fright Night, Child's Play), CLOAK & DAGGER was one of the key, trend-setting films to place young characters in high-stakes action sequences, featuring incredible stunt work, the likes of which would never be pulled off today. With a stellar starring turn from Henry Thomas (E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Suicide Kings) and featuring strong supporting performances from Dabney Coleman (War Games, The Beverly Hillbillies), Christina Nigra (Twilight Zone: The Movie), and William Forsythe (The Devil's Rejects), Vinegar Syndrome Ultra is proud to present CLOAK & DAGGER for the first time on 4K Ultra HD fully restored from its 35mm original camera negative."

Rollerbabies' (1975) / 'Mount Of Venus' (1976) - Blu-ray pre-order available from Vinegar Syndrome direct - $27.99

Release date: July 26

"Prolific New York based director Carter Stevens made his name by helming fun-filled sex romps with all-star casts. Presented here are two of his early critical and audience successes.

In the future, sex will be illegal…but there will be ROLLERBABIES! In a dystopian world where sex has been deemed a punishable offense to reduce the population, the only form of carnal release can be experienced through explicit action on TV. With an over saturation of hardcore programming, Sherman Frobish’s network is taking a dive…until he devises an ingenious plan to regain viewership: Rollberbabies! Carter Stevens’ loving tribute to sci-fi pulp and comic books is a light and breezy comedy and stars Terri Hall (Story of Joanna).

The Greek God Jupiter cannot understand why humans no longer worship his strength and virility. In an attempt to ‘prove’ his worthiness for praise, he travels to earth on a mission to seduce as many young women as he can, hoping to earn their devotion in the process. All the while, Jupiter’s fellow gods and goddesses form a literal Greek chorus, tracking and assessing his carnal pursuits. Sublimely goofy and starring Georgina Spelvin, Jamie Gillis, Kim Pope, and Eric Edwards, MOUNT OF VENUS is equal parts laughs and explicit action."

Ted and Mary have just moved, with their two young daughters, to the sleepy coastal town of Gull Island so that Ted can complete work on his thesis. Everything couldn’t seem more picturesque about their new, seaside home…that is, except for the increasing number of aggressively behaving birds. After surviving an unprovoked nighttime avian invasion, Ted becomes determined to figure out the cause of their unusual behavior; an investigation which leads him to uncover the sinister goings on in the nearby waters. All the while, the birds increase their now deadly attacks, moving up from family pets to human victims…

One of the handful of direct-to-cable-television horror movies produced in the early to mid 90s by Universal, THE BIRDS II: LAND’S END is a jaw dropping animal attack spectacle from director Rick Rosenthal (Halloween II) which stars Brad Johnson (Always), James Naughton (Cat’s Eye), Chelsea Field (Master of the Universe), and Tippi Hedren (The Birds). Never released on disc, Vinegar Syndrome brings this notorious sequel to Blu-ray, newly restored from its 35mm interpositive and featuring comprehensive interviews with cast and crew."

'Forgotten Giallo: Volume 5' - Blu-ray pre-order available from Vinegar Syndrome direct - $59.99

Release date: August 30

"This limited edition and painstakingly crafted box set (designed by Earl Kessler Jr.) is limited to 6,000 units and is only available here at VinegarSyndrome.com!

The Golden Age of the Giallo saw filmmakers who had not previously worked in the horror or thriller genres taking interest in trying their hands at murder mysteries, often with highly unusual outcomes which feel tonally and structurally distinct from the works of trendsetters like Bava and Argento. Presented here are a trio of one-and-done-gialli by filmmakers who had never previously, nor would subsequently, produce a film in the genre"

A WHITE DRESS FOR MARIALÉ:

"When Marialé was a little girl, she witnessed her father murder her mother, along with an adulterous lover, before killing himself. Years later, Marialé has invited a group of friends over for a party at an isolated villa. As the festivities progress, an increased sense of debauchery and hedonism befalls the group, only for their perverse fun and games to be disrupted by the arrival of a mysterious killer, who begins dispatching the revelers in nasty fashion, all to cover up a secret buried deep in the past…

From the depraved mind of Romano Scavolini (Nightmares in a Damaged Brain) comes A WHITE DRESS FOR MARIALÉ, starring Euro-horror icons Evelyn Stewart (Murder Mansion), Luigi Pistilli (A Bay of Blood), and Ivan Rassimov (Jungle Holocaust). Made during the height of early 70s giallo fever, and taking cues from the psychedelic craze of the late 60s (complete with colorful scope photography by Scavolini himself) along with Italy’s burgeoning sexploitation market, Vinegar Syndrome is pleased to present A WHITE DRESS FOR MARIALÉ on Blu-ray, newly restored in 4K from its original Techniscope camera negative, and featuring an assortment of new and archival interviews with its cast and crew!"

TROPIC OF CANCER:

"Fred and Grace Wright are vacationing in Haiti in the hope of repairing their failing marriage when they run into an old friend, Dr Williams. Excited to share the news of his latest work, Williams explains that he has developed a powerful aphrodisiac which doubles as a hallucinogen. Intrigued by their friend's discovery, the couple quickly find themselves embroiled in a high stakes plot to steal the drug, all the while a mysterious killer (or killers) begins viciously doing away with anyone who gets too close to uncovering the truth about the formula.

One of the strangest gialli, both in terms of setting and storyline, to emerge from the genre’s golden age, co-directors Edoardo Mulargia (Escape From Hell) and Giampaolo Lomi’s (The Barons) TROPIC OF CANCER takes an unconventional approach to the black-gloved-killer structure, adding in elements of high concept crime film and Fellini-esque surrealism. Gorgeously photographed in Techniscope by Marcello Masciocchi (The Murder Clinic), lushly scored by Piero Umiliani (Five Dolls For An August Moon), and starring Euro-sleaze stalwarts Anthony Steffen (The Night Evelyn Came out of the Grave), Anita Strindberg (Who Saw Her Die), and Gabriele Tinti (Endgame), Vinegar Syndrome is delighted to bring TROPIC OF CANCER to Blu-ray, featuring a fresh 4K restoration of its Techniscope camera negative!"

NINE GUESTS FOR A CRIME:

"Nine members of an extremely rich and hateful family have decided to have a month-long reunion on a remote island in the Mediterranean. No sooner than their arrival, old grudges, resentments, and feuds make themselves known, along with allusions to some more macabre events in their past. But when their boats are torched, thus stranding them without any connection to the mainland, it becomes clear that someone is not willing to let old wounds heal, a fact made all the more clear as bodies start to pile up…

One of the many gialli which loosely adapted Agatha Christie’s landmark novel, Ten Little Indians, prolific spaghetti western director Ferdinando Baldi’s (Texas, Adios) sole foray into the genre, NINE GUESTS FOR A CRIME, sets the action in a picturesque villa in Sardinia, while loading on sinister twists and nasty deaths. Starring John Richardson (Black Sunday), five time Oscar nominee Arthur Kennedy (Lawrence of Arabia), and Italian character actor Massimo Foschi (Jungle Holocaust), and featuring a score by Carlo Savina (The House of Exorcism), Vinegar Syndrome is excited to bring this suspense filled sleeper to Blu-ray, sporting a new 4K restoration of its original 35mm camera negative along with a fresh interview with one of the film’s few surviving participants"

'Hot Snake' (1974) / 'Guns and Guts' (1976) - Blu-ray pre-order available from Vinegar Syndrome direct - $29.99

Release date: August 30

"This special limited edition embossed and spot gloss slipcover (designed by Tony Stella) is limited to 6,000 units and is only available here at VinegarSyndrome.com!

Fans of the Western genre will agree that the 60s and 70s were the height of the "Spaghetti Western" - Western films produced by Italians that were more gritty and violent than their American counterparts. However, some fans may not be aware that equally violent Westerns were being made in Mexico around the same time. Presented here are two excellent examples, both darker and bloodier then many of the Spaghetti Westerns produced during the same time period.

HOT SNAKE (86min): A sadistic and ruthless outlaw has been terrorizing the town of Hot Snake. A bounty hunter named Emiliano is hired by the local sheriff to hunt down the outlaw after he murders a woman and steals money belonging to the Army. Warned by a local bruja (witch) not to take the bounty, Emiliano soon finds himself the target of a mysterious man who seeks to settle a personal vendetta. Directed by Fernando Durán Rojas, HOT SNAKE is a dark and atmospheric western with supernatural elements.

GUNS AND GUTS (90min): An outlaw and a scorned husband both team up to track down and kill the man that wronged them. Along the way, the two men meet a hired gun that loves money just as much as he loves the company of women, so the two men decide to hire him in order to help them on their mission. However, things become complicated when the man they all seek to kill has risen to become a wealthy sheriff with a small army of gunmen at his disposal. Directed by acclaimed Mexican director René Cardona Jr., GUNS AND GUTS is a rough-and-tumble western with an explosively bloody ending that rivals anything created by Sam Peckinpah.

Vinegar Syndrome is proud to present these two gunsmoke-filled features for the first time on Blu-ray, scanned and restored in 4K from their 35mm original camera negatives."
