Vinegar Syndrome are having another Black Friday sale starting tomorrow at an unspecified time and according to their Facebook page will be releasing a Blu Ray of Roger Watkins Corruption.

If the name rings a bell it's clear you have seen Last House on Dead End Street, as he is the director. And if you look really hard on Corruption - not that hard, I'm sure - you will find LHODES - in its entirety.. as an extra! How cool is that?

Last House will eventually get a bells and whistles release on its own but if you can't wait that long, this is it. There will defo be a copy winging my way.

Anyone else subscribing to exploitation.tv? I have the app on roku. the picture quality is amazing and Vinegar Syndromes entire catalogue virtually is available to stream.

I am not a "streamer" I am a physical media Madman,I am not a hypocrite I am using the service simply to watch films in advance to decide which are "essential" in which I will buy a physical copy asap and which are "turkeys" so I can save some money. In other words a balance between saving money on titles that do nothing for me instead of blind buy car wrecks & buying much more from vinegar for those "essential" gems found.

The service and catalogue is amazing! :woot:

I just signed up thanks to you! Going to see what it's like for the free 7 day trial period at least. It's a good way to check out some movies I've been on the fence about... these cult releases ain't cheap after all. :)

Exactly! they are not hence supporting the company via the fee + buying more of their titles at the same time as not wasting money on the few blind buys which don't pay off. I wonder if VS had this in mind increase their physical sales dramatically at the slight expense of sacrificing some titles not so popular!

you can't go wrong with the trial as you say and I decided to keep it after a week. They add up to 12 films a month! so we'll never be bored. You get more money's worth than out of netflix even netflix with smart DNS!

I have brought loads of films I would have otherwise passed by. :woot:

Vinegar Syndrome presents its new ‘Storefront Theatre Collection’, which celebrates both the strange and often homegrown productions that played in ‘mini-theatres’ of the 70s. This special-edition 3-disc set is uniquely packaged in 100% recycled card stock and features a heavy-duty slipcase.

Throughout the early to mid 1970s, the most common way to see underground feature films was to visit a ‘storefront theatre.’ Sometimes referred to as ‘mini-theatres’ or ‘shoebox theatres,’ these small venues were often converted retail stores armed with nothing more than a couple projectors and nailed down folding chairs. And, unlike larger houses like the Pussycat chain, the films screened in these small and cozy spaces were low-budget 16mm efforts, affectionately known as one-day-wonders.

Hundreds of these theatres dotted the American landscape, and with them, the most truly independent and underground filmmakers found a place to exhibit their work.

In this first volume we focus on Los Angeles’ PO-NO Theatre with 12 examples of LA made films, produced between 1970 and 1973. Included titles are Huck Walker’s unrelentingly ALL AMERICAN HUSTLER, Anthony Spinelli’s bizarre vampire comedy SUCKULA, Rik Tazi’ner’s low rent costume saga, THE EROTIC ADVENTURES OF HERCULES, as well as anonymously directed efforts like CARNAL-GO-ROUND, SEX BEFORE MARRIAGE, HOMER THE LATE COMER, and the experimental subjective-camera feature, EROTIC POINT OF VIEW, in addition to five more surprise feature films featuring early genre stars like Rene Bond, Sandy Dempsey, John Holmes, and more. All films have been scanned in 2k from rare original theatrical prints to re-create the experience of stumbling into the PO-NO late one evening and not leaving until dawn the next day.

Directed by: Various
1970-1973 / 740 minutes / Color / 1.33:1
Actors: Rene Bond, John Holmes, Sandy Dempsey, etc, etc…

Features Include:

• All films scanned and restored in 2k from ultra-rare 16mm prints
• Features two bonus short films

THE HUMAN TORNADO
Dolemite (Rudy Ray Moore) is back and badder than ever in THE HUMAN TORNADO! After being run out of town by a racist sheriff, Dolemite returns to LA only to discover that Queen Bee's (Lady Reed) club has been taken over by the mafia. On top of that they have also kidnapped two of Queen Bee's top girls! With the law hot on his tail, Dolemite rounds up the toughest Kung-Fu fighting badasses in Southern California to take on the mob, culminating in one of the craziest surprise endings in blaxploitation film history!

THE PSYCHIC KILLER
Arnold Masters (Jim Hutton) is a mild-mannered man who obsesses over his mother, but finds himself implicated in a murder he didn't commit, and is sent to an asylum. While incarcerated, a fellow patient teaches him the techniques of Astral Projection, also known as the Kirlian Effect, which is the ability to use his mind to control objects at will.

PHYSICAL ATTRACTION / CLASSICAL ROMANCE
Richard Mailer was a prolific and talented, though perpetually obscure, director who helmed nearly 100 films over his career. Presented here are two of his later efforts. One about a disillusioned Hooker turned marathon runner and another about a pianist who has come to a crossroads in his life.

HARLOT / TIJUANA BLUE
Following the unprecedented success of his 1970 film Mona, director Howard Ziehm quickly established himself as a one-man filmmaking machine, directing dozens of boundary pushing sex films. Presented here are two of his most unique and important early works.

Don't mention horror in the Vinegar Syndrome thread Dem, you'll set michal off! ;)

I own the following titles (so far):

Not all horror I grant you, but VS tend to release films that straddle a few genres (like Raw Force) and certainly release titles of 'an acquired taste' which would be difficult to recommend - you have probably seen some of the above for yourself so know what I mean, plus you've seen the conflicting discussions on here regarding Night Train to Terror (which I loved).

I did write a small piece on Massage Parlor Murders.

They've also released Graduation Day, Don't Go in the Woods and Madman, although they've also had UK releases.

Plus, they've released a number of other titles, mainly specialising in exploitation/sexploitation double-features but also a number of more recent-ish horror releases:

The only ones of which I've seen is Luther the Geek (pretty low-budget mad Troma fare that I rather enjoyed in a lot of respects, so make of that what you will!) and Pigs (scuzzy low budget horror-exploitationer which I also enjoyed). I definitely intend to pick the above titles up eventually along with Psychic Killer and some of their Blaxploitation stuff.
