Personally I loved the narration, thought it was a great throwback to the forties and fifties noirs and 'journalistic' style crime films with voiceover throughout. I'm a sucker for those and appreciated that touch in this film.

Haven't seen ZODIAC but its one I've been meaning to check out.
Any fans of Town should check out Pierce's LEGEND OF BOGGY CREEK.

Indeed. Can't be doing with Cameron's macho bollocks, and Resurrection was just too messy, a clunky mashup of Jeunet's nuttiness and bland Hollywood product, and a really poor script by Joss Whedon . . . !

In fairness to Whedon, he dislikes ressurection as well. Junet didn't follow his script. Not surprising really jean pierre junet is a hack who survives by making his stupid little films look as quirky as he can to mask how poor they are. Theres no substance to a single one of his films.

I disagree, like Jeunet or dislike him, he's not a hack - he has a very distinctive style. Surely a "hack" is someone without any discernible style and one who throws things together in a quick and shoddy manner?

The root of the issues with Alien Resurrection, like the release version of Alien 3, lie at the feet of the producers and the studio.

Fair enough. Perhaps if he'd worked in music videos his visual style might have been enough. Trouble is there is literally nothing beyond that. He reminds me to some extent of post LEON Luc Besson, lovely looking films but nothing underneath.
