Yeah, the awesome UK quad poster.
I still prefer the UK opening which was on this release. When the title of ZOMBIES comes up on screen in those big bold letters with the Goblin soundtrack it just makes it so much better.

Amazon down to 74.99 for the 4K set now, so I cancelled my HMV order. I think after the limited edition is sold out it'll be reissued as a standard release without the CD's and book. If that does happen i'll probably get that and sell this one.

I've done the same. It wouldn't come as a big shock if HMV were in trouble again, the remaining stores being closed certainly can't have helped much.

Justin101 30th May 2020 12:36 PM

Just joining in on the nostalgia. There was a point in the 90s when I was getting into movies in a big way and I'd never seen Dawn, Day or even Night but I had watched the Savini version on Sky Movies!

Dawn was pretty heavily cut on VHS, I think the current edition was on budget label 4front with the horrible gold framed cover art. So I skipped it and watched this before seeing any of the other films...

https://www.picclickimg.com/d/l400/p...rge-Romero.jpg

Then I went on a family holiday to Orlando and came back with the Anchor Bay VHS from a shopping trip to Mall of America. We might complain about artwork used on covers for these blurays that come out now but in the 90s we had some bloody awful options...

**MARTIN update**
We've been looking into additional source elements and have materials to inspect. Unfortunately the lockdowns have delayed this process but we are hoping to pick up again soon. A release date is now being held until we are more sure of the timings. Thanks for bearing with us.

'Walkabout' (1971) - Limited edition Blu-Ray boxset

Release date: July 27th

Brand new 4K scan and restoration, new extras and 3 books!! Full details shortly

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 2nd June 2020 09:43 AM

It'll be interesting to see how it compares to the Criterion Collection release. If it has far superior picture and sound and some new extra features, it'll probably be the fourth copy in my collection!

Same here, I remember all of those and the Document of the Dead vhs. I also gad Day on EIV label (I think), cut of course.

I watched the trilogy obsessively when i was a teenager!

Just watching the Criterion NOTLD & wondered what people think is the best version of Night to have? I have Criterion bd, Elite dvd & optimum (I think) uk blu.

Rik 3rd June 2020 08:40 PM

Definitely the Criterion, I have that and the UK steelbook and the the Criterion pisses all over any edition I’ve had before

Criterion is very much the winner. btw The Optimum blu-ray was strangely heavily cropped or zoomed in at certain times.

Dave Boy 4th June 2020 09:06 AM

Yeah, Criterion edition is awesome.

Nostalgic 5th June 2020 07:37 PM

Night of the Living Dead is my fave film of all time. Watching the Criterion edition now, remembering watching the Elite laserdisc with my brother (RIP) in the 90's.

Got Dawn out to watch either later tonight or tomorrow.

I respectfully disagree about the 4 Front Video gold covers, I like them and it does give me those warm nostalgic memories from the 90's

I definitely agree with that hideous neon cover

John Matrix 5th July 2020 06:48 PM

Is the Criterion edition a UK release?

Not seen this in years since I had this one

Dave Boy 1st August 2020 11:34 AM

I gave in, in the end. I ordered the DAWN OF THE DEAD Blu ray set.
Figured I would have it as a birthday present to myself.
Amazon now selling the Blu ray set at £64.99
4K version £74.99

Nostalgic 2nd August 2020 10:38 PM

Am I the only one thinking Strangers is an odd choice?

Maybe The Purge next?
Annabel?
Don't Breathe?

How much closer to now will these releases get?

Tbh, i'm happy they're putting out films from the last few years. Their release of Leigh Wannell's Upgrade is excellent

will graham 3rd August 2020 09:35 AM

Well to be fair, the strangers is a 12 year old movie so it's not that recent.
I have noticed that they are releasing more films that you know will be cult in the future, but like steven says, they are impressive rereleases.

Besides they still knocking out older and wanted titles like dawn.

Is The Strangers likely to be 'cult' in the future?

I thought it was really bland, and not a patch on other home invasion thrillers such as Ills.

I got rid of the dvd shortly after watching it. I wouldn't exactly call it cult cinema, more studio multiplex fodder.

Rik 3rd August 2020 02:06 PM

I quite like it, not enough to buy the Second Sight edition though, the one I paid £2 from CEX will do for me

But like Dem says, there’s better home invasion films out there, The Collector being one

We appreciate everyone’s patience with our release of this one. We wanted to check material from various sources and this has been very difficult over the past months due to locations and access. We are hoping to move forward again shortly and aim to release early 2021. More details to follow...
