No sale for me.
No reversible art,digipak.

I’ll keep my German 4k set and I’ve ordered the Scream Factory disc.

ALWAYS the artwork that lets Second Sight’s superb sets down. :tsk:

"Unfortunately we need to delay our release of THE VVITCH a little longer until July 25th. We’re very sorry about this further delay but are pleased to say that we've been working on a new HDR grade with Robert Eggers over the past few weeks and he has now fully approved this for our 4K UHD release. We do however want to give David Mackenzie all the time he needs to work his encoding magic plus final QCs. Apologies again but was important to release with an HDR grade approved by Robert Eggers, thanks for bearing with us."

'Dog Soldiers' update (again!)

"Unfortunately we have to delay the DOG SOLDIERS release until August 22nd. For the past 2 months we have been in an unexpectedly lengthy approval process for all the content we created for the release, which includes disc content as well as the book. We have had to remove the archive Neil Marshall and cast commentary which has been replaced with a producer commentary. We have finally been able to have all other content approved. Sorry for the delay but we are pleased we are still able to give this a limited edition box set release along with the standard releases."

As much as this does look lovely i won't be splashing out £25 for four art cards, a booklet and a new doc by David Huckvale.

The rest of it is identical to the Icon release.

Having said that. Cex are giving £28 store credit for the Icon version so i probably will get rid of it and get the new release.

Dave Boy 20th June 2022 05:44 PM

I was only thinking today about the Dog Soldiers release. I thought I may have missed it!

I think I'll stick with the Icon Mummy release.

Really disappointing set of extras as you say.

It leaves a bad taste in the mouth when you think about what Indicator would have done with a release like this!

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 20th June 2022 08:26 PM

Honestly, does Second Sight really think Hammer collectors will give up the Icon releases when they sport classic original Hammer poster artwork?

I think not...

I'll buy these IF they have reversible art,but I think we all know the answer to that!

We'd have been on cloud 9 if they'd announced X-The Unknown or The Abominable Snowman. But no, they had to come up with identikit releases to the Icon ones but with worse artwork.

SymbioticFunction 21st June 2022 01:58 PM

I'm actually pleased that The Mummy is being reissued. I don't own a copy and the Icon blu ray went OOP and sells for silly money nowadays. I will however, be waiting for a cheaper standard edition. I just want the disc not a slipbox, booklet and art cards.

Ditto, on all counts. The only copy of The Mummy I have is the R1 Warner Home Video release which Demdike mentioned a few posts back.

The only copy I have is an Amazon Prime hd streaming version that I picked up for a fiver (once I saw the cost of the Icon blu-ray on the second hand market). It'll be great to have access to an affordable and physical high definition copy.

I doubt they'll give us any original artwork. I'd love them to use this one, but I doubt they will. I blame the people who blow smoke up the asses of these companies when they commission new art [emoji23]
