They've already mentioned that both will be getting standard releases further down the line.

Whilst the red cases look nice, I can't justify close to £30 inc. postage for these, not when the standard versions can be picked up from Wow for about £12 inc. postage a few months later.

Mondo Macabro is one of the few labels that i buy every release and have so far bought every red case bluray editions along with managing to obtain the whole Mondo dvd collection so will continue buying them. Luckily they only tend to release a handful of titles every year and are mostly movies i have not seen before and have an interest in and at least they hold their value if i have to sell them on.

I do understand waiting for the cheaper standard release which is sometimes only months later as the cost of collecting is expensive nowadays and do take that view on many label releases as will not being spending £50+ on the new Shout Factory Omen box set when i have the UK set which cost less than a fiver and will probably not upgrade to Arrow's AAWIL release as can't justify spending more money on something i own on bluray and am perfectly happy with.

Cover art for DANGEROUS CARGO. This will be getting a red case LE after all. 500 pieces available at the same time as BEAST AND THE MAGIC SWORD. Includes a must-read booklet by Pete Tombs. Disc itself will basically be bare bones as no one is either willing or still alive to talk about this film.

Still hoping to have SATANICO next month too, but it's still a bit up in the air. Waiting on the licensor to fix the problem we were having, which they've said they have. But we haven't seen the results yet. So stay tuned on that front.

Also, should have news in a few days about KILLER OF DOLLS and BUTTERFLY OF DEATH. Sorry about the long wait for those, though it was completely out of our hands

They can dress it up as much as they like and call it Dangerous Cargo if they want but Blood Tide is still abysmal.

If anyone wants to check out a daring Deborah Shelton film then go for Sins of the Night.

"Making its worldwide Blu-ray debut early next year – the Mexican nunsploitation shocker SATANICO PANDEMONIUM!

We announced this earlier this earlier this year but encountered a problem and couldn’t publish.

What happened was that we had a 4k scan done in Mexico from original pre-print materials. But it became apparent on checking this that there was an optical fault in the only surviving negative source that must have been introduced during the original post production process. This was a fault that was not fixable. We spent nearly a year looking for alternative materials and finally located a fairly clean 35mm positive print which was then scanned at 2k.

We have decided to have both scans available on the disc so the viewer can choose to see the version derived from pre-print material, which has greater depth of color and all original grain, or the softer print version which does not have the optical fault.

It must be said that the fault is minor and is not present on every reel. However we felt it best to give the viewer a choice on which version they preferred. Each version has it merits and demerits.
______________

In the spirit of Ken Russel's The Devils this is one of the most subversive, violent and shocking films ever made about the religious life. With a stunning performance from the often naked Cecilia Pezet, the film inspired the Salma Hayek character in Tarantino script of From Dusk Til Dawn.

Sister Maria (Pezet) is known in the convent for her good works and charity, but, in the secret depths of her sexual fantasies, she is tormented by visions of another world - a world where her forbidden passions are allowed to run free. In this world Satan is her master.

As her acts of violence and blasphemy mount, Maria realizes that she has been chosen by the Devil to destroy the convent and lead her sister nuns into hell!"

"***NEW TITLE ANNOUNCEMENT***

Coming soon to Blu-ray from Mondo Macabro!

Umberto Lenzi’s AN IDEAL PLACE TO KILL! A.K.A. OASIS OF FEAR A.K.A DIRTY PICTURES!

Coming at the same time as SATANICO will be this classic Lenzi giallo making its worldwide Blu-ray debut!

Two free-spirited teenagers, Dick and Ingrid (Ray Lovelock and Ornella Muti), set out to spend the summer together in Italy. To pay their way they sell Scandinavian porn mags and nude pictures of Ingrid. But then they get busted by the cops and are given 24 hours to leave the country.

Instead of leaving they take to the road, where they come up against a thieving biker gang and then are mistaken for a pair of bank robbers. Heading south in a hurry, they run out of gas in the middle of nowhere and take refuge in the house of Barbara Slater (Irene Papas) a seemingly bored middle-aged housewife who appears to be up for some sexual shenanigans. The naïve pair party with Barbara but soon discover that she is hiding a terrible and deadly secret.

Directed by the legendary Umberto Lenzi of CANNIBAL FEROX fame, this sexy thriller in the Italian “giallo” style is a taut and suspense-filled entertainment with a deviously twisted plot and all the trappings of the “hippie” 1970s, Euro-style."

  • English and Italian language tracks, with newly translated optional English subtitles
