Default Weekly Comp - Dick Emery / Ken Dodd / Max Bygraves - 21/02/2010

Hi there! Hope everyone's having a great weekend!

From Funny Games to comedy gold! This week, the prize is something a little different, something a little lighter - a break from all the blood and gore of other prizes. Yep, this week we're giving away:

Label: Fremantle Home Entertainment
Release date: 1st March 2010
Release type: DVD
Pricing: £12.99 each
Genre: TV related, Comedy
Stars: Dick Emery, Ken Dodd, Max Bygraves.

“THE COMEDY GREATS.” – DAVID WALLIAMS.

Fans of classic British comedy should prepare for a nostalgic trip down memory lane in the company of three undisputed legends from the golden age of television variety performances and light entertainment – Ken Dodd, Dick Emery and Max Bygraves – with the DVD releases of The Ken Dodd Laughter Show, Dick Emery: The Thames Television Specials and The Max Bygraves Specials, none of which has been seen since their respective television broadcasts over 30 years ago.

Released on 1st March 2010, each DVD features three hours’ worth of timeless entertainment, songs, skits and sketches from the best in the business at the peak of their fame and popularity.

The Ken Dodd Laughter Show

Hardly in need of an introduction, the man from Knotty Ash with the trademark buck teeth, tatty hair and tickling stick, who once held a place in the Guinness Book of Records for the world’s longest ever joke-telling session, stars in his hit ITV series, The Ken Dodd Laughter Show. Featuring all six complete episodes of the show, this laugh-a-minute DVD is a showcase of superlative stagemanship that perfectly illustrates Ken Dodd’s enduring talent as both a singer and a master of comedy.

Dick Emery: The Thames Television Specials

A true light entertainment icon whose legacy and influence on modern comedies such as ‘The Catherine Tate Show’ and ‘Little Britain’ cannot be underestimated, Dick Emery was undoubtedly one of the UK’s best-loved comic performers. Dick Emery: The Thames Television Specials brings together the three acclaimed one-hour special shows Emery produced during a brief hiatus from his fifteen hugely successful years at the BBC. Featuring all of Emery’s inimitable comic characters, including favourites such as Hettie the sex-starved spinster, Gaylord the bovver boy, camp Clarence with his catchphrase “Hello, honky-tonk” and the unforgettable busty, middle-aged blonde Mandy (“Ooh, you are awful…”), the shows also includes appearances by guest stars such as Lulu, Lynda Carter, Richard Todd, The Three Degrees, Gemma Craven and Beryl Reid.

The Max Bygraves Specials

One of Britain’s best all-round variety entertainers, comedian, singer, actor and presenter Max Bygraves became a national star and a celebrity following a performance at the Royal Variety Show after which Judy Garland invited him to support her during a season of shows in New York. Since then his TV shows, ‘SingaLonga…’ albums and a stint presenting ‘Family Fortunes’ have made him an unforgettable household name. The Max Bygraves Specials brings together on DVD three television showcase performances – The Max Bygraves Hour, At The Royalty and Max – that see Bygraves flexing his vocal and comedic talents through a variety of stand-up routines, sketches and musical numbers, with support from celebrity friends and guest stars such as George Burns, Jim Backus, Judith Durham, Aimi MacDonald, Hattie Jacques and Michael Robbins.

The Ken Dodd Laughter Show
(cert. tbc) will be released on DVD (£14.99) by Fremantle Home Entertainment on 1st March 2010.

Dick Emery: The Thames Television Specials (cert. tbc) will be released on DVD (£12.99) by Fremantle Home Entertainment on 1st March 2010.

The Max Bygraves Specials
(cert. tbc) will be released on DVD (£12.99) by Fremantle Home Entertainment on 1st March 2010.

Woooo!

But how do you win such awesome prizes?

Easy!

This week, since it's all about comedy, all you have to do is come up with some jokes! What could be easier!

I'm talking about the cheesy, innocent little jokes you're likely to find in crackers or on the back of a p-p-penguin! Things like:

- Why should you never play poker in the jungle?
- There's too many cheaters!

Next sunday, the three best jokes will be selected and the three winners will get to choose which DVD they'd like!

***ANY INAPPROPRIATE JOKES WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION***

So, grab that tickling stick Honky-tonk and start sending in some jokes! Just post a reply down below and wahey!

Once again, you can enter as many jokes as you like - there's no restrictions!

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!
