Default Weekly Comp - I Spit On Your Grave Double Feature - 06/02/2011 - FINISHED

Hello!

Fancy winning quite possibly the greatest rape/revenge film ever made (and undeniably the most famous) along with it's brutal remake in a limited collector's edition DVD or Blu-Ray? Of course you do, what a silly question! Well then read on, because everything you'll need to know is below...

Label: Anchor Bay Entertainment
Release date: 7th February 2011
Release type: DVD, Blu-ray
Certificate: 18

Pricing: £19.99 (DVD), £24.99 (Blu-ray)
Genre: Horror
Director: Meir Zarchi, Stephen R. Monroe

Most people would have seen the original I Spit by now, but here's the trailer anyway...

(I luv this film!)

And here's a heap load of information on the recent remake...

In 1978, Meir Zarchi unleashed his low-budget horror film I Spit On Your Grave (originally entitled ‘Day Of The Woman’) on an unsuspecting world only to see it heavily censored in America, banned outright in numerous countries and then to become one of the most controversial, disturbing and debated films of our time. Now, director Steven R. Monroe (Complacent; Storm Cell) revisits Zarchi’s cult exploitation classic with a remake that exceeds all expectations and, 32 years on from the original, looks likely to ignite the fires of controversy all over again.

Seeking some peaceful solitude in which to complete her latest novel, Jennifer Hills (brilliantly played by relative newcomer Sarah Butler), a beautiful young writer from the city, rents an isolated cabin in the southern backwoods. Her presence attracts the attention of a group of locals who, sparked by a combination of lust, jealousy and damaged pride, subject Jennifer to a gruelling nightmare of humiliation, mental torture, physical abuse and rape before leaving her for dead in a nearby river. But Jennifer isn’t dead.

Having taking time to recover from her ordeal, Jennifer returns to exact eye-for-eye (and then some) vengeance upon her tormentors. Trapping each of her attackers one by one, she inflicts brutal acts of physical torment upon them with a grimly inventive and clinical ferocity that equals and even surpasses that which was inflicted upon her.

Providing an emotionally harrowing and far more disturbing and compelling experience than any horror film in recent memory, Monroe’s faithful but far superior remake of I Spit On Your Grave is an “extremely efficient grindhouse” (New York Times) that the Montreal Gazette claims “deliberately brutalizes its audience in order to convey the trauma, rage, and existential nihilism born of human cruelty… the issues it addresses – misogyny, society’s blame-the-victim mentality and the dehumanizing aspects of vengeance – are no less relevant today than they were in 1978.”

Boasting a strong and incredibly brave lead performance from Sarah Butler (CSI:New York; CSI: Miami), the film features a superb supporting cast that includes Jeff Branson (The Guiding Light; All My Children), Daniel Franzese (War Of The Worlds; Mean Girls; Bully), Rodney Eastman (Janie Jones; Spork), Chad Lindberg (Supernatural; Push), Andrew Howard (Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen; Blood River) and Tracey Walter (Batman).

But how do you win it?

Well pretty obviously, this comp is going to be all about remakes.

What would be the best/worst remake ever to be made (that hasnt been made yet). Simply pick an existing film (any genre), pick a director you would luv to or hate to remake it, possibly some stars and what would make it so terrible/amazing.

The three most innovative and interesting entries will each win this two-for-one DVD/Blu-Ray! Horray!

So get thinking!

Good luck,

Kyle

THE BREAKFAST CLUB 3D
Starring: Zac Efron, Kristen Stewart, Shia Lebouf, Megan Fox, Robert Pattison.
Directed by: Michael Bay
Produced by: James Cameron and Joel Silver

The Plot:
It's Saturday and five 'kids' are made to spend their day in detention. After an hour of just sitting around the school is taken over by terrorists and and it's up to our 'kids' to take them out by working together which inevitably creates friendships and romances. Expect giant explosions, slow motion shots of helicopters, complex gun battles and a nu-metal soundtrack all in Glorious 3D.

The entire film takes place in and around the school. The kids use air shafts, cleaning cupboards and the Library as they're base of operations. This is the film you've been waiting for....

Not shot in 3D but who's not to say they quickly cobble it into a 3D version not long before it's released like Clash of the Titans. ;D

The Room 3D

Directed by: Quentin Tarantino

Produced by: Quentin Tarantino, Tommy Wiseau, the Doggie from the Flower Shop

Starring: Tommy Wiseau as Johnny, Uma Thurman as Lisa and Samuel L Jackson as The American Football That Gets Tossed Around In Every Scene

You are teeeearing me apaaaart Leeesa!

A kitchen-sink melodrama in the style of Tennessee Williams remade for the 3D generation! Witness Wiseau's bare-arse thrusting right in front of your face in state-of-the-art 3D! See Tarantino's unique knack for script-writing in pop-cultured filled dialogue with a new sub-plot about bare feet! See Samuel L Jackson give a career-defining performance as an American football! Find out what happens to Lisa's mother after she gets diagnosed with breast cancer! See the first 20 minutes of the film from the POV of Tarantino's doesn't-really-matter-if-it's-necessary-or-not-I'm-still-putting-it-in-there trunk shot! One awful film, 2 more dimensions to see it in! It will tear your brain apart!

Suspiria 3D

Directed by Dario Argento

Dario has decided that if there's going to be a remake, he will do it himself. Bad idea.
The 3D element is taken from his recent "success" with Dracula 3D which Dario said Asia and some of his friends "liked in parts".
Starring Asia Argento taking Jessica Harpers old role of Suzy, and shitting on it. Julian Sands is the mother.

The film is shot entirely in 3D, not one shot isn't, everything "comes out of the screen" including a ten minute scene with Asia and her boobies.

There are no deaths in the film as Dario has turned into a pacifist in his old age, but bunnies do come and hop about on screen.

Due 2012.

The Exorcist
Directed by: James Cumeron
Starring: Dakota Fanning, Nicholas Cage, Sandra Bollocks

The ultimate suck. Just like the original but full of sh*t. Dakota Fanning becomes possessed, his mother Sandra Bollocks looks for help and there it comes Nicholas Cage as Father Karras which is definitely the worst cast ever. James Cumeron makes everything using CGI, because he is SUCH a great director, from the make up to every single special effect. Every single special effect.

Obviously it has its 3D release, which is so sh*tty that it probably makes a box office success. You will have the opportunity to see the puke in three dimensions, for exmaple.

However, most of the scenes of the film will be deleted as Cumeron wants you to watch this movie with your family and have a great time. Bye to the masturbation scene or the final suicide, amongst others.

ROBERT PATTINSON MAKES A CAMEO. I just don't know why.
