Weekly Comp - Amsterdamned - 22 October 2012 - FINISHED

Hello everyone,

It's time to spread Yellow Fever and get down with a Shameless competition...

SHAM037: Amsterdamned

BE GLAD YOU'RE AFRAID, IT MEANS YOU'RE STILL ALIVE.

A predator has surfaced from the canals of Amsterdam leaving a trail of gruesomely dismembered bodies in Dick Maas’ high-octane, heart-stopping cult slasher-thriller.

As the victims pile up in a series of startling, violent, Jaws-style set pieces, a detective is assigned to hunt down the hidden killer before news of the carnage causes mass hysteria and hurts the tourist trade.

The masterful, clever & darkly witty direction of Dick Maas (Award winner of the prestigious, horror, Avoriaz Fantastic Festival) is mainstream enough to appeal to action thriller fans but also nasty enough to satisfy slasher aficionados ..

This edition includes an in-depth making-of by the Director himself, witnessing the film’s legendary boat chase and other amazing stunts (no CGI here!) which infuses the film with a sense of tangible danger - and indeed sent the film’s lead to hospital for 3 weeks after crashing his boat !

This rarely seen gem has attained a deserving cult status; originally cut by the BBFC, it is now presented as instructed by Dick Maas: uncut and in his original film format.

Special Features:

* “Making of” by Director Dick Maas
* English, USA & Dutch Theatrical Trailer
* Photo Gallery
* Shameless Trailer Park

TO WIN...

This week's competition is going to be nice and easy, following last week's competition.

With Halloween around the corner, and Amsterdamned being a great slasher/giallo, all you have to do is let us know your favourite movie murder/s.

Simply post the kill below (an image is best!) with a little info. It can be from a hugely well known horror franchise, or an obscure eurotrash film or anything in between!

The best kills will be put into a hat and on Sunday, three lucky winners will be randomly selected and rewarded with a copy of Amsterdamned.

Easy peasy - so get to it and share your favourite kills!

There's no limit to the amount of kills you include just as long as they're not crap.

Good luck!

Kyle

The scene in Peter Jackson's comedy horror Braindead where the zombie punches his hand through the ladies head out of her mouth. Still can't imagine how they did this effect.

Quick jump cut if you look closely, there's quite a few like that in it.

The visually arresting double murder at the start of Suspiria is one of my favourites. Really sets the tone for the whole film

Seasonal one for me and fresh in my mind as I watched this on Blu Ray today, Bob's death from Halloween. Not particularly graphic in itself, but what makes this scene work is the way in which Michael takes a step back to evaluate his handy work and then tilts his head from side to side, admiring what he's just done, absolutely as cold and callous as they come!

Captain Rhodes death in Day of the Dead! Some of Tom Savini's best work.

Or Eric Sykes classic - "I can definitely identify it as a train..."

In fact can I just submit the whole of "Theatre of Blood" as my entry?

Dead or Alive Uncensored Opening (Takashi Miike, 1999) - YouTube

I love the noodles coming out of the dude (3:45), amusing. Better if you watch the whole thing though 'cause you see him eating through the whole intro.
