Other than the 'Series 7, Part 1' DVD release on October 29th, does anyone know the release dates for the classic Who DVD's for the remainder of 2012, or are there not going to be any more until 2013?

Thats it for this year.

As much as i'd like the ltd edition Series 7 part one release, i'm going to wait until the full box set is released next year.

Oh well - that'll save a bit of money in my purse!

Same here. I've never bothered with the separate releases for Nu-Who, just got the complete box set when it's been released

What did you think of the opening five episodes overall.?

I thought Asylum of the Daleks was brilliant, with three great looking but ultimately thin episodes to follow, and a decent final episode with a badly flawed ending.

I could not resist and preordered the limited BD version - despite my hate of these split releases, but on the one hand I really enjoyed the episodes a lot and on the other, the set just looks great!

Maybe I'm getting old, but I'm seeing less-and-less of the classic Who I used to watch (and still love) in Nu-Who. I'm finding myself watching it as a completely different show. 1963-1989 = 'Doctor Who'; 2005-date = 'Dr Who'!

So, the opening episodes

'Asylum of the Daleks' was fun, but I do not for one minute believe that the Daleks would go to the Doctor for help.

'Dinosaurs on a Spaceship' was awful. It was played too much for laughs. Don't get me wrong - comedy has always been an important part of the show, but here it was taken to the nth degree

'A Town Called Mercy' was probably the best of the mini-season

'The Power of Three' I don't remember much about. It was the one with the boxes, but other than that...

'The Angels Take Manhattan' was also something that I didn't enjoy. It seemed to exist only to get rid of Amy and Rory. I also think that the Angels are being used too much. The first story with them was classic Who - scary. Now they are becoming familiar, and getting boring

Again, don't get me wrong with this post. To (mis)quote Shakespeare, "I come to praise Doctor Who, not bury it"!

It's true I am not enjoying it as much as I used to, but at the same time, I think that poor Who is still preferable to the best of anything else which is being shown at the moment

...except Merlin.

Which gets better each year.

Which is always awsome.

Ahem, to get rid of the awful memories of those 5 episodes, I have purchased TODAY The Claws Of Axos SE.

Has anyone heard the rather funny Graham Duff radio series Nebulous? The second episode "The Lovely" is a rather well appointed spoof of this in particular......

Some interesting quotes from Paul Vanezis over on the Missing Episodes forum:

Quote:
"However, Missing Believed Wiped in December would be a good place to see some DW you may not have seen before."

"I should add that it isn't something people don't already know about..."
