Default Post- Apocalyptic Movies: The End Is Nigh!

Hi all,

So, we only have about 12 days until the end of the world. Frankly, whilst some people think it's a load of toss, I'm a little worried. Perhaps rather than the world ending, we'll see a new era begining (next year IS the star of the Age of Aquarius after all). But, perhaps a new era is just as, or even more terrifying that the world suddenly coming to an end.

With conspiracy's about the end of the world coming in the form of a burst of a solar flare whiping out all our electricity, to the mysterious collusion with Planet X (total bollocks imo), the flipping of the poles, a holy apocalypse from the Heavens (and Hell!), an alien invasion, a zombie-like outbreak (possibly to do with Bath Salts), the Illuminati attack; the list of ways the world could end are...endless! Even if nothing does actually happen, the possibility that it will could cause widespread panic, riots and the destruction of civilisation as we know it.

Nearly all of these thoughts would have a post 'apocalyptic' era following the event.

So, what are some of your favourite post-apocalyptic movies? What will you be watching in your bunker on the day of the 21st Dec?

Share your favourites here! From big budget Hollywood spiel to Italian action cheese-fests....

Also, does anyone else find it strange that Hollywood has not created a single end of the world film (or even a simple disaster movie) this year? You'd think they would be coming out all over the place! Another conspiracy? Perhaps...

Few favourites of mine are the Mad Max films, Book of Eli, Stephen King's The Stand (also one of my favourite novels too), I am Legend, loads more that I can't think of right now and of course the Walking Dead (yeah, I know it's a TV show)

Ok, so it doesn't have a cool overblown poster, but my favourite is by far The Bed-Sitting Room . . .

And don't forget the spanish The People Who Own the Dark which is a bit unusual to the italian contributions to the genre.
