Default BLADE RUNNER 1982 Ridley Scott

Blade Runner one of the most visually stunning films ever made.
Endlessly referenced and discussed whether or not Deckard IS an android.

One of my favourite science fiction films ever, but the question is:-
What cut is the best?

Where did you first see Blade Runner?

Was it on video, was anyone lucky enough to see it in the cinema when it was first released way back in September '82?

Vote in the poll and discuss here.

Nowt to discuss. Ridley Scott says he's a replicant. End of.

I first saw Blade Runner on vhs rental and hated it with a vengeance.

Something drew me back to The Directors Cut when that came out on vhs and i liked it a bit. I've now seen it ten times plus and it gets better every watch.

The Region 1 Attache case dvd set is one of my favourite dvd's ever. It lives under a chair next to its big brother the James Bond attache case.

Plenty to discuss.
And don't change the fact that it is still endlessly discussed.

Yeah I first saw it on VHS rental as well, and after all the hype, thought what the hell was all the fuss about?

I WAS about twelve at the time though!

No point discussing whether or not he's a replicant imo (or the directors).

Being an oldie I saw it at the ABC, thought it was great(tho the dove scene jarred more on the big screen than in the home, the 'Final cut' on Blu is the best imho, in fact any version without the narration is a step up, tho Deckard is almost certainly a replicant "but then again who does?"
maybe by then we would all be better off as replicants.

Great film, went for the Final Cut. In truth I've still not seen the workprint or international theatrical cuts (I know the difference between the latter and original theatrical version is negligible). I've got the tin set on DVD with all the cuts and have the Final Cut on Blu-ray too.

First time I saw the film I was disappointed - taped it off the telly in 1986 expecting something akin to STAR WARS or INDIANA JONES given that Ford starred and was gutted to find it was nothing like those films. I didn't give it another go until the release of the director's cut many years later and really dug it. There's a great book, Future Noir, about the making of the film which is well worth a read.

It seems many feel the same way about the film. It grows on you the more you watch it.
