I have been waiting years for this to hit Blu-ray. There was a strong possibility of seeing this appear while the remake was on the cards. Now that seems to have disappeared again, will we ever see this cult classic make it out onto Hi def? And yes the USS Cygnus remains Sci Fi's best looking spaceship!

definitely a contender for blu-ray, I didn't know a remake was planned,

that's about the only thing I like with remakes, it gives the original a chance of a blu-ray release

I remember going to see The Black Hole at the cinema on its original release.I thought it was a good film at the time.I've always loved the design of the spaceship in the picture above.

Could this have been one of the last films to have an overture ?

I remember at the cinema, hearing the music before the curtains opened.
I think that was the last time I ever heard an overture played.

I too saw it at the cinema. I also had a completed sticker book for it, and a Maximilian and Vincent toy.

Its a very downbeat film especially for Disney. Its not often everyone dies, in any film. :(

Like The Keep, The Black Hole was a troubled production with many chops and changes before completion. I would love to see some of the footage that ended up on the cutting room floor. For example the R1 DVD from Disney has a cover that shows the Cygnus in Earth orbit - a scene that exists nowhere in the film as it currently stands...

Dae, if you've never fancied watching it by now, you never will.

Completing the sticker book before i'd seen it spoilt it for me too.
