I could quite easily do a top 10 list just of stop motion animated films!

Tip of the iceberg mate.
You never mentioned super heroes in the original post nos.

Superman, Superman 2, The Shadow, Batman and Batman Returns are all that would enter my top 100.

80 per cent of this Top 100 are films that were released before 1990. One possibility would be a list for the already existing sub-forum entitled "Modern Movies", i.e. everything after 1990.

Have you already done an Action Movie poll? If not, this would be another option.

This is an interesting list. The only two I haven't seen are Invaders from Mars and When Worlds Collide, but they are now high priority on my Lovefilm rental queue.

50 Must-See Science Fiction Movies - How many have you seen?

Haven't seen Contact and Sphere from that list.
Neither seem that appealing to me.

Back to possible lists, i know Dem was not struck with animation, but i was thinking of a list that includes all animation.
For instance-
Fantastic Planet,Watership down, Jan Svankmajer, Ralph Bakshi, Stop motion ie Coraline, Nightmare before Christmas, Pixar, Disney and Manga.
I think Harryhausen films could be included due to the large amounts of stop motion, but then CGI is animation so where do you stop.

I'd also be happy for some lists to be shorter if they are too hard for people to get to 100, 50 would be fine for animation.
Personally i'd struggle with Action films myself.

B.E is probably thinking ' are you people never satisfied'.
I'am and think you've done a great job, it's just i find the lists really interesting and seeing as the people who visit cult-labs have pretty good taste in films, then any list would be worth doing.
And they are good reference points for people who haven't seen all the films but want decent film recommendations.

Our list is better than their list.

Who would recommend Star Trek- the motion picture as the 'one' star trek film that needs to be seen.

I've only seen the first two of the 'original' Star Trek films, and The Motion Picture is, by far, the weakest.

I would also struggle with action because I'm not a huge fan of Schwarzenegger, Stallone, Van Damme movies from the 80s and 90s and haven't seen as many as most here will have.

For the purposes of a list, the definition of animation could be a film which is wholly animated or with large/significant sections of animation, such as those which made Willis O'Brien/Ray Harryhausen famous and Jan Svankmajer's Alice.
