I used to have Viewmaster reels for Buck Rogers as a kid. Unsurprisingly the ones with Ardala always seemed the most popular with my mates and I.

I can't believe I have only just found this thread; I'll have to have a think, browse my collection and post a top 50 here.

my Re-edited list.

1. Metropolis (1927)
2. Planet of The Vampires (I have seen this now and even if it was not a very good quality copy I definitely can say it deserves to be in this spot)
3. Hardware
4. Island of Lost Souls (1932)
5. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1931)
6. Jurassic Park (1993)
7. Aliens
8. The Man With the X-Ray Eyes
9. Shivers
10. Pacific Rim
11. Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)
12. The Dead Zone
13. The Bride of Frankenstein
14. Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell
15. Terminator 2: Judgment Day
16. The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)
17. The Invisible Man (1933)
18. District 9
19. Cube (1998)
20. 28 Days Later…
21. The Thing (1982)
22. Coherence (2013)
23. The Host (2011)
24. Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956)
25. Phase IV
26. Them! (1954)
27. Children of Men
28. RoboCop (1987)
29. Alien
30. Lucy
31. Children of The Damned (1960)
32. Starship Troopers (1997)
33. Super 8
34. Prometheus
35. Split Second
36. The Iron Giant (1999)
37. Pitch Black
38. The Faculty
39. The Mist (2007)
40. The Kindred (1987)
41. Young Frankenstein
42. From Beyond
43. Alien: Resurrection
44. Frankenstein Created Woman
45. Critters 2
46. Predator 2
47. Frankenstein’s Army
48. Flatliners
49. The Terminator (1984)
50. Barbarella

I would still argue that the Frankenstein films have a strong element of Science-Fiction (though zombie films are stretching it, and no 28 Days Later is NOT a zombie film)

It's getting there... we could certainly do with some more entries though.

However, despite fewer entries than the horror list, the lists in general are longer than some of the horror lists were, which of course helps too.

I'm hoping to close off list submissions at the end of November and start posting the results early December - if not (reliant on how busy I am and if we get any more lists etc.), I was thinking of letting the submissions run over Xmas (when members and the site in general will likely be less active anyway) and then posting the results in the new year.

That would be best for me as I'm busy with University work at the moment (I should be writing assignment at the moment!), so I'll do it as and when I can over the next month and at the beginning of the Christmas break.

Who would of guessed it would be so hard to get people on a FILM forum to post a list of some of their favourite FILMS of a certain genre

It may brighten up January (The worst month of the year for me) if we had the poll results then rather than December.

Any thoughts?

I think January may be a good time to post the results, as generally speaking the forum decreases in activity over December as people start to finish work/school etc. and wind down for the Xmas holidays.

Plus, it gives everyone a chance to watch some more sci-fi over the holidays and the opportunity for more potential members to post their lists.

It takes a little bit of the pressure off of me too, as Xmas is always a busy time for me (even more so this year) and if we are looking at doing this exercise annually, it may be better spacing it out a bit more from the Halloween horror list which we're also hoping to turn into an annual occurrence.
