I'm pretty sure it's always voted as the best of the three in polls by magazines such as Empire and Total Film.

Admittedly, I used to prefer T2 to the first film too when I was younger and watched it a hell of a lot. There's no denying it's a good film, but I appreciate and enjoy the original a lot more now.

I prefer the darker tone of the first film.

Indeed. It's more raw and gritty and the better for it. As the sequels have progressed, they have become more glossy and lost their 'edge', which is what made the first film so great.

In many ways, Terminator 2 - Judgment Day is a much better film than The Terminator. The production, the script, the acting, the special effects - honestly, I really can't think of many things the first movie does better than the second. What T2 lacks, though, is the originality of The Terminator. Cameron's 1984 flick is raw (I think somebody mentioned this word), unpolished, honest, and inventive 80s Action/Science-Fiction cinema at its best. T2 is an example of a perfect and flawless sequel - the original shows you how to write motion picture history. Whilst both movies are amongst the very best ever made, the sequel ranks a bit behind the original. I'd like to call it the "pioneer" bonus. RoboCop is on par with both Terminator films. Having said that, it is also one of the very few films to combine great entertainment and bitter social criticism. These few lines may help to understand why I rate RoboCop higher than The Terminator, and why Terminator 2 - Judgment Day does not appear on my list. |

You must have been one of the really cool underground kids as Manson didn't release an album for another three years. |

I did first see T2 when I was 11 though - which would have been in '94/'95 |
