But as an actual VILLAIN, what makes her good? She mostly has her own stories and doesn't come into contact with Batman. Plus for years she's fell into being an appendage for The Joker in a way that weakens his character - if he can love someone (or even feel for them) we can relate to him, making him less scary.

J. Caroll Naish as Doctor Tito Daka, the first on-screen villain faced by Batman, in the 1943 'Batman' theatrical serial from Columbia Pictures, directed by Lambert Hillyer.

Daka is the leader of a Japanese sabotage ring, operating in Gotham City, who plans to steal the city's radium supply to power his invention, a hand-held raygun that can dissolve anything hit by its powerful beam

Also pictured are Lewis Wilson as Batman and Douglas Croft as Robin

Been watching that series on and off. Total hoot. Alan Moore was right about 'the cape'

Looking forward to the '49 sequel

I'm wondering if this version of Robin was the inspiration for the hairstyle in Eraserhead

The next animated Batman film looks interesting.

Batman and Catwoman against Jack the Ripper.

Rated R (15) for strong violence and language.

I like the way they wear masks so no-one will recognise them (even though it's Lee Meriwether pictured and not Julie Newmar)!
