I preferred it to The Force Awakens, however I've never been a big Star Wars fan.

You do realize if we'd all raved about The Force Awakens, Trebor would have had to go out and buy every bit of Star Wars merchandise that's out there.

Would have kept him bust until Saturday i reckon.

As much as liked it, guardians of the galaxy is the better film in my opinion and if I ad to choose I would always go for guardians.

Star wars didn't have a half naked Chris Pratt!! Also think rogue one will be a better film than force awakens, mind now I've said that it will be awful

I actually walked out on GotG. It annoyed the hell out of me. Everybody would not stop screaming and shouting.

I like Bautista, because his character would keep quiet for the odd time and give my eardrums a rest.

I haven't seen Guardians yet. It's Marvel though so I'm expecting the usual poor storytelling, 2D characters and yawn-inducing quips juxtaposed to a back-drop of shit blows up. I'm in no hurry.

220px-Destination_Moon_DVD.jpg

Dr. Charles Cargraves and retired General Thayer were on the verge of greatness when the rocket they were building to take them to the moon exploded during a routine test. To add to their troubles as a result of this failure the government take away the funding of the project leaving both me devastated and unsure of their next move. General Thayer has a plan to save the project and he enlists the help of Jim Barnes the head of an independent aviation construction firm to build the rocket. Now they have the professionals to build the rocket next they must raise the funds which they do at a meeting of American industrialists who are not quite convinced right off the bat but when General Thayer tells them that the space race has begun and who ever reaches the moon first the the upper hand and military advantage because there is no defence against attacks from the stars.

All seems to be going to plan the funding is secure the facilities are good to go but when the public catch wind that they are using atomic power there is uproar and widespread panic at the fear of radiation leaking out and causing mayhem. Before testing can be carried out on the rocket disturbing news comes in that there is an order on its way to the launch site to stop the rocket from taking off so the team decide to launch without any testing before its too late and the whole project is ended.

Jim Barnes , Dr. Charles Cargraves , General Thayer and Joe Sweeney board the ship and head into space. Joe Sweeney is less than convinced that the rocket will even leave the ground and only agrees to go to prove a point that the others are wrong but once take off is complete the smug smile on his face disappears into a face of terror. When the reach the moon everyone is overtaken by the beauty of earth in the distance and are over awed by the whole experience so much so that Dr. Charles Cargraves has miscalculated the amount of fuel they have left to make the trip home. They are advised from earth that in order to make it back they must shed as much weight as they can to insure they make it back safely.

Destination Moon does a lot of great things the acting is great apart from Joe Sweeney he sort of got on my nerves seemed like he was trying too hard to be Humphrey Bogart he actually has the look of him but it was really grating by the end of the film. The effects from space where pretty good with one scene where Joe poses for a picture to make it look like he was holding up the earth in his hand. Another great scene saw one of the crew start to drift into space when is gravity boots fail and one of the other crew members uses a fire extinguisher to direct him through the air to rescue his colleague. I also really like the pressure on their faces while they were breaking out through the earth's atmosphere at the beginning of the trip.

I would definitely recommend Destination Moon it has some great ideas and implements them really well.

7/10

Star Trek The Search For Spock.

Taking place straight after the events of the wrath of Khan. The heavily damaged enterprise makes its way back to earth, on there way an intruder is found out n Spock's sealed quarters, this turns out to be McCoy who appears to be having a brake down. Reach earth kirk finds our the enterprise is to be commissioned and the crew reassigned. Not long after kirk is visited by Spock's father Sarek who blames kirk for Spock's death are soon learn that at the time of death vulcans will transfer their katra ( soul) to the closet person to them , sarek believes this this be Kirk but we soon find out that its been transferred to McCoy and this explains his strange behavior, not long after McCoy is arrest forget trying to get to the Genesis planet ans sent to a federation mental institution, kirk with the rest of his crew decide to help both there friends by rescing MCcoy and retrieving Spock's body, they end up stealing the enterprise and disable the federations new flagship.

While back at the Genesis planet kirks son David and lieutenant Saavik are explorering the planet when they discover life signs which they believe to be Spock who's been revived by the Genesis wave, not long after their ship is destroyed by Klingons looking for the secrets of Genesis, stranding them on the planet.

Rushing to Genesis the enterprise is heavily damaged by the Klingon ship. while on the planet David,SaaVik and Spock are taking prsioner, David is killed by the Klingons to make kirk give the secrets of Genesis and surrender, kirk tricks the Klingon captain who looks a lot like doc Brown to beam over most of his crew to take over the ship, which he does not knowing that kirk has set the enterprises self destruct, Kirk and crew ( which is only Sulu, Scotty, Chekhov as Scotty has automated the ship) beam down to the planet just before the enterprise is destroyed killing most of the Klingons. On the planet the kirk and co and captured by the Klingon captain and the crew along with saaviik apart from spock are beamed to the Klingon ship. Kirk manages to kill the Klingon and beams to the ship and captures it, they set course for Vulcan just before the planet is destroyed, reaching Vulcan they are meet by Sarek and Uhura. A mystically Vulcan ceremony takes place which manages to transfer Spock's spirt from McCoys mind to Spock's. The ceremony is a success and the film ends with Spock remembering who Kirk is.

One of the lesser trek films but plenty of fun still to be had, a film which really shows the bond between the crew. 7/10

Now watching the voyage home

I always preferred the romulans over the Klingons but they were criminally underused. But. We had some great klingon episodes especially in deep space 9.

It always annoyed me they made the Klingons allies. They were a great race of villains with cool looking ships. That's the problem with Star Trek - Way too PC.
