I love this thought.

Don't they say if you drop a 2p off a skyscraper it will kill someone and crack the concrete with them or something on those lines, so a meteor fragment dropping millions of miles onto someone's head should do a little more than upset their parting.

You dare question the scientific credibility of Track of the Moonbeast, Dem?!

Default Have Rocket, Will Travel 1959

Have Rocket, Will Travel 1959

Starting with a mock Rod Serling narration about space travel,Have Rocket -- Will Travel sees the The Three Stooges as caretakers at a space station, that is having trouble sending its space ships into orbit. So naturally the stooges come up with a fantastic new fuel to send the rockets into space thus saving the space station from closing down.In the late 1950's and early 1960's the Stooges were going through a bit of a renaissance period, mainly to repeated showings of there short films on television I suspect. The line up at this time was Moe Howard - Moe,Larry Fine - Larry and Joe DeRita as Curly Joe who replaced Joe Besser who in turn had replaced Shemp Howard who had replaced Curly Howard who had been ill and in retirement, and had died in 1952 at the ridiculous young age of 48. While not in the same league as there early short films Have Rocket, Will Travel is a fairly entertaining silly little film that was probably aimed at Saturday matinee schedule for the kids.Produced by Colombia pictures, this feature although not exactly a big budgeted affair still has some nice special effects for the time and reminded me allot of those early black and white Lost In Space episodes.Noticeably less violent in there antics than there earlier films, maybe old age was starting take its toll on the guys, unsurprisingly Moe is looking very much his age at this point in his career. This is not going to make converts out of any non Stooges fans, but anyone for liking of Ed Wood movies and silly 1950's films will get a kick,or a slap or a poke in the eye from seeing there favourite morons from outer space. Even more surprising is the fact that this film appears on a 6 film Stooges set by Mill Creek, and the print is pristine.

Silent Running and Altered States are two others i've never seen. The UK dvd of Running appears to be 1:33:1 so that's out and Altered States is only available on dvd-r.
Altered States did get a uk release but is now OOP, I got mine from CEx at a fairly reasonable price.

I tried watching Oblivion (2013) last night after No One Lives.

Although it looked stunning i was quite tired and fell asleep after about an hour.

Invaders from mars

As already mentioned captures the cold war paranoia of the time perfectly, very creepy in places but never understood the point of the dream ending. Probably in the minority with liking the remake more. 6.8/10

I can't remember if i've seen the original Invaders from Mars. Pretty sure i picked it up in a set with the remake and four others.
I don't have it. Just the Tobe Hooper remake.

I watched Oblivion on a plane a couple of years ago so might not be its best judge but I thought it was pretty good. Nice visuals and a fairly engaging story (albeit long!) ... nothing overly special though.

It seemed okay, but it also seemed to liberally borrow scenes and ideas from just about every influential sci-fi film around.
