I hope you keep this up, Susan. Don't suppose you fancy doing it in a thread of their own do you?

It will be invaluable for people to refer to if they want to begin collecting the dvd's.

As requested...

Here is a thread dedicated to the DVD releases from classic Doctor Who. What I am aiming to do, is give a detailed chronological record of the DVD/Blu-Ray release schedule, starting with the first one (in 1999) and continuing to the latest one to date

What I am not going to do is give a synopsis of the story (other than what is written on the back of the DVD case), nor am I going to give each story a rating

If all goes to plan, it should be finished in about 6 months, but we all know about the best laid plans, so please forgive me if it take longer

So, without further ado...

#1: The Five Doctors

'The Five Doctors' was the first Classic Who DVD to be released

Release date - November 1999

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...iginal_cvr.png

Back cover info:
"Someone is taking the Doctor's past selves out of time and space, placing them in a vast wilderness — a battle arena with a sinister tower at its centre.

As the various incarnations of the Doctor join forces they learn they are in the Death Zone on their home world of Gallifrey, fighting Daleks, Cybermen, Yeti, the Master... and a devious Time Lord traitor who is using the Doctor and his companions in order to discover the ancient secrets of Rassilon, the first and most powerful ruler of Gallifrey.

The Five Doctors was originally broadcast on 25 November 1983, to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of Doctor Who. This new version of the story features extended scenes, previously unseen sequences, new visual effects and a Dolby 5.1 soundtrack. Not intended to replace the original edition of this story, this is an alternative version which uses state-of-the-art technology to embellish and enlarge one of the greatest Doctor Who stories ever"

Special features:
Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack
Music-only option

*Note - Although this is described as being a 'Special Edition' on the front cover, it's actually a bare-bones DVD — the title refers to the fact that this is the 1995 special edition of the story, containing extended scenes and new visual effects and NOT the original 1983 broadcast version. However, the story was later re-released as a 2-disc 25th anniversary edition

Release date March 2008
