Default Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets

Did a search and nothing came up for this movie. Was basically wondering how it was? I very much like Besson's The Fifth Element and therefore was wondering if I would also like this fellow Besson sci-fi film. Any input fully appreciated.

It's bonny to the point of distraction imo. I'll rewatch it but felt the male lead was tainted by his involvement with the excreta that was Chronicle .
She pretty .... bland tbh.
But will revisit!!

Finally saw this. Enjoyable enough first time around but I decided to sell it back to Cex as I didn't personally see much replay value. Dehaan was a bit miscast imo, it was difficult to see him as either a lady's man or a tough guy. Rihanna was surprisingly good.

I found the chemistry really lacking between the 2 leads which ultimately affected the replay value as you say. It looked pretty though and the story was interesting.

Yeah, spot on about the lack of chemistry. Besson's casting decisions were a bit iffy here. Surprising because The 5th Element was cast extremely well. btw I've been told that this was the most expensive independent film ever made!

Sometimes I think I should have kept it. Maybe there was enough whimsy to make it worthwhile. The choice of lead actors really hurt it.

Lead cast was infact an issue to me.

I agree, I enjoyed the plot and visuals, but the 2 leads were terribly miscast. Dane DeHaan isn't even a bad actor but he wasn't even trying with this. Cara is a prime example as to why models shouldn't try acting...

He was probably just attempting to give a somewhat laid back, cool guy 'Han Solo' type of performance. But unfortunately certain actors are a complete mismatch for some types of roles. Besson's lead actor casting decisions pretty much sank this project.
