Apparently a full screen transfer though, curses!

But i've still pre-ordered a copy despite my hatred of non-widescreen prints.

This yap track will hopefully provide a bit of consolation to compensate for the lack of a widescreen print. I hope there's maybe a few more extras on the DVD too.

It'll also be nice to see an uncut version of TEOTY3000 as i believe Medusa's old VHS pre-cert was truncated.

I'll still buy it though. I saw the film on Betamax as a kid and loved it! I always remembered the scene with the kid nearly blowing everyone up by trying to crush those explosives with his robotic arm.

Default THE ROAD WARRIOR or MAD MAX 2: THE ROAD WARRIOR

I missed watching THE ROAD WARRIOR back in the vhs era, though I watched MAD MAX and MAD MAX 3:BEYOND THUNDERDOME.

My questions are:

1. I'm wondering if anyone could watch THE ROAD WARRIOR as a stand-alone feature without having to watch the other two.

2. What title is shown in the opening sequences of the film on the US R1 dvd: is it only "THE ROAD WARRIOR" or "MAD MAX 2: THE ROAD WARRIOR"?

3. Is it the best of the three ? (I've read reviews that it is!)

Well, I'm biased as MM2 is my favourite movie of all time, of sorts. As in my most watched movies.

You could quite easily watch MM2 as a standalone movie due to the nature of the beginning montage. Mad Max is an entertaining movie with some great stunts but you don't have to have seen it as the MM2 montage takes care of the previous plot; Max has gone "Mad".

The Region 1 and 2 DVDs both have the title card "The Road Warrior" whereas the Blu-Ray is the Australian "uncut" print with the Mad Max 2 logo. In real terms, the Blu-Ray is not the uncut version. My Pal VHS copy (the original rental) has an extra bit of dialogue. Papagallo is talking to the community about the tanker. There is an additonal bit of dialogue when he says "...the first step, defend the fuel and I stay, alone if I have to. I'll leave them nothing of that you can be certain." Inexplicably cut, maybe seen as superfluous".

I think it is the best of the three. Mad Max is far more raw, but does have some cool set pieces, with non CG aided stunts. MMBT is ok up until Auntie Entity says "Congratulations, you're the first to survive the audition". The movie then picks up when Pigkiller drives the train out of Bartertown. the middle bit is watchable but full of painful sequences that range from embarrassing to just outright dull.

Thanks a lot Wayfarer

It's sort of a pleasant surprise to find more and more 1980s post apocalypse features being released on R1 dvd.

Soon, I'm getting a copy of DEATH SPORT/BATTLE TRUCK slated on August 8.

Unfortunately EXTERMINATORS OF THE YEAR 3000 is going to be presented in 1.33 :1 video on dvd by Code Red. I'd rather not buy it especially when the film has a 2.35:1 or 2.40:1 original aspect ratio since it loses a lot of the information. EXTERMINATORS is one of those (I've checked the us.imdb).

However, I'm still looking forward to seeing SHAMELESS releasing more titles- uncut and remastered of the 80s PA films: 2020 TEXAS GLADIATORS, A MAN CALLED RAGE, MEGA FORCE anyone?

Did anyone catch the showing of Stryker (1983 Post Apocalypse movie directed by Cirio H. Santiago) on Movies4Men 2 recently? I've recorded it but not had chance to watch it yet.
