When Marcus Hearn became editor of Doctor Who Magazine i did wonder what direction it would slowly move in. Hearn being the official historian of Hammer Films and also a documentary maker for StudioCanal's Hammer Blu-rays.

Now that fellow horror expert Alan Barnes is assistant editor it's become clearer with the magazine looking at the history of the show more than the current series.

Since Hearn took the reigns we've had features by horror expert Jonathan Rigby semi regularly and in this current issue another Hammer expert in Kevin Lyons does a huge feature on Milton Subotsky and his company Amicus. Every issue there's some sort of nod to British horror but this issue is full of it with images from various Amicus films such as Torture Garden and Dr. Terror's House of Horrors.

This issues text free subscriber cover is a thing of beauty.

At time of writing, I don't have a lot of the Blu-Ray collection releases

The ones I *do* have are:

Series 10 [The Three Doctors - The Green Death]
Series 12 [Robot - Revenge Of The Cybermen]
Series 14 [The Masque Of Mandragora - The Talons Of Weng Chiang]
Series 18 [The Leisure Hive - Logopolis + K-9 and Co.]
Series 23 [The Mysterious Planet - The Ultimate Foe]
Series 26 [Battlefield - Survival]

Unfortunately, both series 23 and 26 are giving me problems on my computer - 'The Mysterious Planet' and 'The Ultimate Foe' will not play from Series 23 and series 26 is a total non-starter!

I'm hoping that it is just the software I am using that is not up to the job, and when I either get a new computer (which I am not looking at doing at the moment) or when I am in a position to have a television and blu-ray player set up (God knows when that will be) they will play perfectly!!
