CAMECA: The happiest of my life, dear heart. Was ever such a potion brewed? In bliss is quenched my thirsty heart.
DOCTOR: Very prettily put, my dear.
CAMECA: Oh, sweet-favoured man, you have declared your love for me, and I acknowledge and accept your gentle proposal.
(The Doctor nearly chokes on his cocoa)

DOCTOR: [Indicates a medallion] That came out of the tomb. And the man who discovered it later disappeared in the garden. And on the wall is a stone with Yetaxa's sign on it.
IAN: You mean there's a tunnel from there to the tomb?
DOCTOR: Yes, that's what I suspect.
IAN: Where did you get hold of this?
DOCTOR: My fiancee.
IAN: I see. Your what?
DOCTOR: Yes, I made some cocoa and got engaged. Don't giggle, my boy, It's neither here nor there. We must find that tunnel tonight.
IAN: Yes, all right.
DOCTOR: Now, I'll wait for you in the garden, and when Ixta's asleep, you come out.
IAN: Yes, I will. All right. Oh, by the way, Doctor. Congratulations.

After a slight pause, Tennant replied that he had not been born then, resulting in Bernard feeling "very, very old"!]
  • Had previously been considered for the role of the Fourth Doctor, but was turned down after making a statement saying he wanted to "...bring violence into Doctor Who"
  • In 2013, he appeared with Who co-star Jacqueline King in a Doctor Who edition of Pointless Celebrities. Not only did they win a "Pointless" trophy each, but they also won the jackpot of £2,500. Bernard gave his share to the Sparks charity at Great Ormond Street Hospital
