I would think so. Gallifreyan symbols are in two of the pics.

A nice little cameo here would be good with them back in force for the fiftieth finally making a Doctor regenerate.

The Radio Times have it from a source that not only will the new Doctor announcement be coming our way in August, but that the fiftieth anniversary special will feature "one of the five former Doctors who wielded the Sonic Screwdriver before the Eccleston reboot.

Believed to be Paul McGann.

I'm honestly glad Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker and Sly McCoy opted to avoid appearing in 50th special. Who want's to see a bunch men past there physical prime in the role puffing to keep up with McGann, Tennant and Smith? Not I. Glad we'll have them all in Light at the End though.

Did anyone read either Prisoners of Time or Hunters of the Burning Stone? Two celibratery comics that really are very good.

Yeah. Hunters of the Burning Stone has just finished in Doctor Who Magazine. It was really well thought out and i was delighted, not to mention stunned, to see the villains at the end of part one.

Same here (although they didn't opt out, just were never asked). Regardless of how ingenious an in-story explanation is for their change in appearance everyone will still just be sitting thinking "yeah but they're just fat and old now aren't they? That's the reason" It was cringeworthy enough in that Davidson/Tenant mini-episode (which I otherwise enjoyed)

I can understand people thinking their absence is a big two fingers up to the fans and the idea of the anniversary but I honestly think their inclusion would be really jarring.

That was a jaw on the floor moment for me. Utterly wonderful to see The Tribe of Gum return as a significant threat was wholey unexpected!

Agreed. Can see it being very hard to explain indeed and would just look a bit stupid. No malice to any of the four naturaly.
