I'll echo previous posts in that it was worth watching for the Tom baker cameo. Does anyone know if the gorgeous miss Coleman is staying on with Peter Capaldi?

Superb stuff. The opening twenty minutes was blockbuster film material. Smith, Tennant and Hurt were a brilliant combination. Loved Hurt's grumbling about the other two's daft sayings and childish behaviour. Is this a sign the Capaldi Doctor will be less silly? It had a nice way of utilizing the other Doctors, seeing the twelve TARDIS heading towards Gallifrey was something special as was the brief glimpse of the twelfth Doctor. The final scenes suggesting the Doctor going to Gallifrey in the Christmas special and the plethora of monsters makes me wish for the weeks to pass very quickly to Christmas. |

Has anyone watched the comedy gold that is The Five (ish) Doctors on the red button. A fifteen minute story starring Peter Davison, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy, and their attempts to break onto the anniversary set. Featuring piss funny cameo's from Paul McGann, John Barrowman, Ian Mckellan, Peter Jackson, Steven Moffat and Russel T Davies among many many others. Its repeated for an hour tomorrow (Sunday) at 9.30pm. Night of the Doctor, Day of the Doctor and The Five(ish) Doctors has really made the anniversary work for me with all the surviving Doctors having big roles in one or the other. Not forgetting the rather wonderful An Adventure in Space and Time. Last edited by Demdike@Cult Labs; 23rd November 2013 at 10:59 PM. |

Haha 5000 words is an exaggeration! But there ye go!: ...sweet hairy Jesus that was fantastic! Like The Five Doctors if they'd only thought "let's just do 2 And A Half Doctors (...sitcom idea!) but instead of just chucking all of the obvious villains out there and have them indulging in petty bickering for the duration let's give it an intelligent psychological edge and get to the crux of what the character is about". "No sir, all 13 of them!" was just ****ing brilliant and incredibly unexpected and the museum curator scene was touching, reverential and knowing without being irritating. Did an excellent job of acknowledging the past but forwarding the current story while being thoroughly entertaining in the process. Nice to see Doctor 8.5 get a regeneration too although it would have been great to have gotten Ecclestone into a green screen room for a couple of hours just to do it properly (CGI eyes ain't enough). I kinda feel the original idea was to have had Ecclestone as "the War Doctor", considering how angry and damaged he was on his first appearance but the Hurt half-Doctor had to be invented when Ecclestone decided not to want anything else to do with it. Not that it really mattered as, well, ****ing John Hurt! The last shot was beautiful too and is sure to adorn many a geek's Facebook cover photo |
