I watch one episode a week. At this rate with the stories i still need to buy - 5 of them, plus the possible announcement of rediscovered stories i expect to be able to continue like this throughout 2014.

Do you think there will be any chance the BBC will put out a box set? or maybe get this set up on the iPlayer for the license payers to enjoy? after a few minutes on feebay with the list you provided, i can see i'm not going to get very many very fast. it's shocking what prices these dvds command.

It's unlikely there will be a complete 'Doctor Who' 1963 - 1989 box set dut to the sheer number of titles it will contain

However, it's possible that there will be a complete season box set sometime in the future - i.e a box set of William Hartnell's 1st series, 2nd series, Patrick Troughton's 1st series 2nd series, Tom Baker's 1st series, 2nd series etc

Probably not. 'Doctor Who' is a nice little cash cow for the BBC, and so I can't see them giving it away

A lot of the early DVD's - the ones that were released first, and NOT the chronological stories - have now been deleated, and that is why some of them are hard to get. Personally, I have been collecting them for well over ten years. Each new release has been grabbed almost as soon as it was available. I shudder to think how much I have spent on them, and I shudder to think how much more I would have had to pay if I hadn't got them at the first opportunity

Thank you for the help, i appreciate it. The bonus to the older Dvd's is they look pretty nice when stacked so it won't be so bad buying them for the collection. i would much prefer at this stage to buy the series as sets like you mentioned. that would be worth the cash at this point as im sure they would throw all the extras in too. My final question is... does Tom Baker have any missing episodes??

No

The only 'problem' story with Tom Baker was 'Shada', which (due to a strike at the BBC) was never properly finished or aired

The DVD release contains all the material that was actually filmed, plus linking segments by Tom himself

Also included on the DVD is the BBCi animated version of the story...but you need to have a computer which can read and play DVD's to be able to view it - your DVD player cannot do it!
