Interesting trailer. I genuinely think we have a Doctor that can potentially out-class widely popular Doctors like Baker and Tennant.

Capaldi is the focus of the trailer. Sure you see glimpses of other stuff like Daleks and a T-Rex etc, but Capaldi's style based on what we can see here looks to be far different to the likes of Tennant and Smith. No smiling. At all. No waving of hands or anything like that. He seems more like Pertwee based on age, clothing (it looks very similar) and maturity.

Aside from that it looks as if the show is going dark again. We had dark episodes throughout the BaW era, Pertwee's first season, Bakers first 3 seasons, Baker (MK 2)s first season and throughout McCoy's tenure, particularly in his last season. Hell even (some) of the New Who episodes have a dark tone to them!

Those episodes in the dark eras are my favourites, especially the early Baker material. Its unlikely the show will ever go that dark again but this new trailer gives me an impression of some fresh air.

Bring on August.

Has anyone actually seen the "rough cut" of the first ep of Dr Who S8? Personally, I have my doubt's about this. It seems more likely that this is a publicity stunt to hype up the new series, ahead of the Aug transmission.

The trailer certainly looks good. I'm hopeful that series 8 will hark back to the more traditional Dr Who of the 70's. Fingers crossed

And will Charles Dance be the new Master to take on the 12th Doctor?

Anyone posts them here and action will be taken.

I would love to see Dance as the Master. A terrific actor who totally commands the screen with both presence and voice.

Great as he is in Game of Thrones, did anyone see him as Tolkinghorn in the Beeb's Bleak House? - Outstanding.

I'm in agreement with you on his performance in Bleak House in 2005. He's the sort of Master that should of been considered over John Simm. I was never overly convinced by Simm as Master material. We need another Anthony Ainely to play the Master. Another actor I often think gets overlooked is Irish actor Ciarán Hinds. Just like Dance, he has a malevolent feel to him just like Charles Dance. Whoever they go for, I just hope it's better than John Simm, though Simm is a superb actor, he just wasn't Master material in my eyes.
