Here's how having Matt Lucas on Doctor Who will "help" Peter Capaldi's Time Lord

""I'd been vaguely thinking that Peter Capaldi's Doctor would probably like some sort of butler..." Moffat told press including Digital Spy. "And I thought it would be funny if his butler wasn't really intent on being his butler...He hands him his coat and his butler just throws the coat away... that'd be quite funny, I thought that would help Peter's Doctor.""

How amusing! Nardole is going to be a kind of Anti-Alfred!!

How many times have we seen that kind of thing? Personally I can see more and more adult viewers leaving if the show is going more towards that kind of childish humour

Doesn't sound funny in the slightest, puerile and stupid, yes.

I like watching doctor who, while im no expert on the show BUT isnt that reason why it lost its viewers and got cancelled when they decided to change the character with sylvester McCoy and take him in a different direction, and ended up making him look like some sort of twittering bungling idiot, who did random things that no one understood why.
They decide to play around with different idea's that in the end they change the concept of what the actual show about, its about a timelord travelling the universe meeting different type of aliens and monsters, while helping those in need. not some kind of comedy show.

Um, no. The show lost viewers in the original series between Colin Baker's first and second seasons, not because of Colin, but because of internal politics that saw the BBC publically attacking their own show. They were trying to get rid of it from that point on, and then set out to make certain the McCoy era would fail by dumping it in a graveyard slot against a show that was pulling in 20 million viewers per week and giving it sod all publicity (esp in his final season).

Other than Time and the Rani which was written without any actor in mind for the role i happen to really like McCoy as the Doctor.

Like Colin Baker before him and indeed Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi since he was let down by what i consider to be poor scripts, but his final season is perhaps my favourite season of Doctor Who ever.

Personally i think Moffat's character interaction is his strongest suite. It's the resolving of plots or developing ideas where he fails. I think the interaction between the Doctor and Nardole will be great fun, hopefully like the Doctor and Craig.
