| What was the last story / episode you watched? ............................ I re-watched School Reunion last night. Whilst the story itself isn't especially gripping, writer Toby Whithouse under the guidance of show runner Russell T Davies properly merged the new series with the old by reintroducing classic 70's companion Sarah Jane Smith, not forgetting K-9. David Tennant seems delighted to share the screen with her and their scenes together are a joy to watch. Although quite touching towards the end in the scenes of discussing discarded companions of the Doctor, the script has lots of laughs - From Mickey comparing himself to K-9 "I'm the tin dog" then laughing at the Doctors expense "Every mans worst nightmare - the missus and the ex". Current companion Rose Tyler takes a back seat in this episode at times but her feelings towards the Doctor are quite clear with her bitchiness and indeed jealousy towards Sarah but they inevitably become friends. The episode features some memorable monsters in the Krillitanes, led by former Buffy stalwart Anthony Head, but they will always be overshadowed by the reunion of Sarah Jane Smith and the Doctor. nosferatu42 likes this. |
