Part 4 of my McCoyathon...

The Greatest Show in the Galaxy
Season 25 was an odd but strong season all in. It had Daleks and Cybermen the two main monsters that anyone on the street could name. Galaxy has it's strengths, the acting as whole is very good, the guest stars all play well and the robotic clowns are creepy. It stills hold rather well after all these years, my only major grip with the story is the ending of episode three when Mags is 'transformed' and lunges towards the Doctor. It's shot a little amateurishly and there's no real sense of danger it's all just very am-dram. The Gods of Ragnorock look pretty good though.

Season 26
Battlefield
I remember finding the story a bit dull on original viewing. All the elements are there but somehow it just doesn't hit the mark. The cast are on great form it's good to catch up with The Brigadier and it's interesting to see the new Brigadier - a women and a black / mixed race one at that! The outcry! The Destroyer is well realised but doesn't really do an awful lot, he just stands around, growls and rips his chainmail vest off. Very homo-monster-erotic! The resolution is a little too quick and what were UNIT going to do with Morgain and her son? Just lock them up in prison, Morgain supposedly has magic powers!

Next up is Ghostlight...

I could go with THAT exchange between The Brigadier and Jenkins again (which has been done to death)...or I could go with this

Doctor Who Christmas special: Has the character being played by Mark Gatiss been revealed? - Radio Times If it has, he is as important to the Doctor Who legend as Sydney Newman, Verity Lambert, Waris Hussein and Delia Derbyshire

If it is correct, then yes - it is a case of being clever for the sake of being clever

Apparently James Dreyfus (the camp actor from 'Gimme Gimme Gimme' and 'The Thin Blue Line') is due to 'appear' as the first incarnation of The Master in an upcoming Big Finish 'The First Doctor Adventures' box set, potentially due in January 2018
