With only five episodes there isn't going to be much Who this year.

Probably about the same screentime as the Tennant "specials" year. All those stories were at least an hour in length, some far longer.

A couple of Big Finish 8th Doctor episodes coming up on BBC Radio 4 Extra over the next few weeks:

Monday 25th June: 18:00 - Orbis Part 1
Tuesday 26th June: 18:00 - Orbis Part 2
Wednesday 27th June: 18:00 - The Beast of Orlok Part 1
Thursday 28th June: 18:00 - The Beast of Orlok Part 2
Friday 29th June: 18:00 - The Scapegoat Part 1
Monday 2nd July: 18:00 - The Scapegoat Part 2

The 2012 series spreads into 2013

There are still going to be the same number of episodes, but they are going to be split by the Christmas period.

I was under the impression that episode 5 is to be the Christmas special, which features the final appearance of Amy and Rory

You misread my post. I posted only 5 episodes this year, not this series.
