It could be during the filming of virtually any story (!), but apparently this was during 'The Macra Terror'

I'll probably be at that point tomorrow. If I remember that "chap there with the wings", despite receiving 5 rounds rapid, pretty much hammers UNIT. On the topic of statues it makes you think how funny it would be to see them up against a Weeping Angel in a large room with flickering lights haha.

The Mind of Evil/A Clockwork Orange 2 is the best in the Season so far. In fact in terms of ranking the Stories thus far... It'd probably go something like-

1. Inferno
2. The Silurians
3. Spearhead From Space
4. The Mind of Evil
5. Terror of the Autons
6. The Ambassadors of Death

It seems some time has passed between this story and Terror of the Autons as the relationship between Jo and the Doctor is a lot better. The Doctor is less of a prat in this one compared to Terror (although he still finds time to berate Jo even after she saves him from the Keller Machine) and the opening scene where he's caught waving is delightful. Roger Delgado likewise is great again as the cigar chomping Master.

I like the idea of the Keller Machine. It is very Clockwork Orange, especially at the start. It looked harmless but it’s anything but. It a nice way of throwing the audience off. One point though (and I re-winded it a few times to make sure) as it attacks the doctor, he see’s a Cyberman, a Zarbi, a Sensorite, A War Machine, an Ice Warrior, Koquillion and a Silurian, and hears a Dalek. Right… Can somebody please explain why he’s terrified of Koquillion? He’s a guy in a mask that an aging First Doctor was able to hold off in hand to hand combat! And the Zarbi? THE ZARBI? WHY IS HE FRIGHTENED OF THE ZARBI?!?! Aside from that though it’s a good enough scene.

UNIT get another good showing. Yeah they have a lot of problems in this episode but in all fairness when you have the Master, a bunch of prisoners and the Keller Machine all causing havoc its never going to be easy. Benton is the star of the story though. He starts off in a bad place when he loses Chin Lee (courtesy of the Keller Machine) but gradually gets his way back into the Brigadiers good books. Then after he gets injured later on he discharges himself from hospital to help in the quite frankly brilliantly directed shoot-out in the prison. He’s so keen. His final reward is that he gets to be acting-governor. I don't dislike Yates but I think Benton is a lot better.

Its just another great story... And to tell you the truth, so was Claws of Axos. I hadn't seen it in years and completely mis-judged it. But as Colony in Space is currently paused on my TV, i'll write my thoughts on that one later...
