How could I forget The Ribos Operation? I would also include that one with City.

Being fair, I think Season 16 was okayish (especially compared to what's surrounding it on either side). Stones of Blood was probably second best. Armageddon Factor was one of the most boring things I've ever seen.

I agree about The Armageddon Factor. But i'd prefer to watch that again then anything from this season, so far.

I'd rather watch The Women Who Fell to Earth or Rosa before Armageddon Factor again. Both are flawed but they work better than the other ones and they're not 6 episodes long.

It annoys me though, because either of them could have been masterpieces easy if the writing was on point. Rosa has a good premise for instance but the villain? He's basically a Captain Jack wannabe who is written badly and who doesn't get enough screen time, hence why the Stories should be an hour long at least.

Actually if I had to choose between 12 Stories or wither 6 Stories with 2 episodes each or 10 or 9 hour long Stories in a modern Season, I'd opt for either of the last two choices.

I think that a programme that has had as many producers as DW has .... from Letts' eco warnings to the rampant violence and Socialism of the Hinchcliffe era ... this series is just another case of gritting your teeth for me. Luckily, for better or for worse, the actors tasked with donning the mantle of this uniquely British folk hero have been up to it. Personally I loathed Tennant. There, I said it. I feels a whole lot happier now .

Next!!

I shudder at the thought of The Tsuranga Conundrum being any longer than fifty minutes. It was about forty minutes too long as it is. Same goes for The Ghost Monument.

Both could have been amazing. Tsuranga Conundrum could have been Alien (if Hinchcliffe was still in charge with Holmes writing it then it would have been) and The Ghost Monument could have been an epic like Marco Polo if they re-worked certain bits of the Story, made it 2 episodes long and ditched the stupid robots, weird bandage like monsters etc. As it is, they botched up both of them, robbing one of its potential and making the other one the single worst modern Doctor Who Story ever made.

We get nothing nowadays that comes close to those three episodes. Watching those three made this new series feel like Luke in the Tatooine deserts gazing into the night sky dreaming of better things .

Threat, action, great characters, tension, spine tingling moments....

If only.
It's only now that all that went before becomes so much more significant and relevant as time passes. I'm still trying to come to terms with no longer watching Dr Who on TV. You quite literally want to imagine that the current Dr Who run never even happened, and it's all just a bad dream. All I can do is just drown my sorrows and try to enjoy the endless list of great Who from the past. It almost feels like losing a close chum you've known since I started watching Who in 1980. I'll have to also dig out some of my New Adventures books and BIG FINISH audios, and have a listen to the superior past.

I watched Kinda for the first time today. The scenes with Tegan and the Mara were amazing and to quote Dem, it was far more spine-tingling than absolutely everything from this current Series and actually had a lot of tension. Peter Davison is also settling into the role quite well.

The Visitation is next, another I haven't seen. I'm looking more forward to watching that than sundays next Story.

The Visitation is magic all the way. Michael Robbins as Richard Mace is a joy to watch, and the Terileptils are rather well realized as the alien foe. You won't be disappointed either with the location work on the story. It's always been one Dr Who story that you always head back to from time to time. I've still got my BBC VHS Video double pack of The Visitation coupled with another great story, Black Orchid.

I'd rather watch The Armaggeddon Factor than 90% of New Who.
