Watching the first 2 episodes of the first Smith series I had forgotten how enjoyable the character of the Doctor is, in any guise. Really looking forward to the rest of his run. Hopefully I'll catch up in time for the 50th Anniversary
I think so yes.

She seems to have a great chemistry with Tennant, and for a change, isn't in love with him.

Episode 12 of series 4 - The Stolen Earth has some superb moments that had the hairs standing up on the back of my neck and sent shivers of joy up my spine. I'll not say any more though.
.................

Looking forward to your views on the rest of the series as it has some cracking stories to come.

Watched The Mind Of Evil last night. I love the early Pertwee stuff, so it was great to see this one again after all these years. The colour restoration done here is superb - a definite step up from The Silurians. Even more so when you see the state of the previous black and white version

This has been a long time coming, but it was well worth the wait.

I think The Mind of Evil is Pertwee's best story.

It's not my favourite, but it's up there with them. The writing is great and the third Doctor / Jo Grant relationship is wonderful. As it's your favourite story, you're in for a treat, Dem.

A bit of a newbie Doctor Who question I can't really be bothered to spend time Googling (sorry!) - have the dvds redone the old special effects on the classic episodes? Or is there a choice to watch either?

Similarly, can you watch the original b&w versions or have all of them been colourised? Or was it just a case that the ones colourised should have been in colour anyway?

The Dalek Invasion Of Earth and The Ark In Space have got new effects as an option.

No original b&w stories have been colourised ( thank gawd! )
