Silver Nemesis

Phew. For a minute there I thought I would have to actually watch the blooming fing. Er ...

The programme celebrates its quarter century. With an overly busy story which doesn't amount to much in the end. Though it contains my favourite Cybermoment for all that. Ahem.

Doctor Who over the years: Episode quotes
Battlefield – Part 1
The Doctor: Now, what seems to be the problem?
Bambera: Excuse me?
The Doctor: Well, you've had an explosion in your electronics, haven't you?
Ace: An electro-magnetic pulse effect.
Bambera: Make yourself at home.
The Doctor: Caused by?
Ace: A nuclear explosion, usually.
Bambera: I think I would have noticed a nuclear explosion.
The Doctor: Yes, well, they are conspicuous.
Ace: Well, if there was no nuke, where did the energy pulse come from?
The Doctor: Exactly.
Bambera: All systems failures were the result of a minor technical difficulty. (Bambera holds up the UNIT passes.) I don't know where you got these from, but I intend to find out. Show these two out.
The Doctor: I'd just like to say three things.
Bambera: What?
The Doctor: Yeti, Autons, Daleks. Cybermen and Silurians!
Battlefield – Part 2
Bambera: I'm an armed military officer. You are under arrest. Lay your weapons down and put your hands in the air.
The Doctor: Winifred, this is not the way.
Bambera: Put the guns down!
(The Doctor knocks her gun down with his umbrella and walks up to the knight in charge.)
The Doctor: Listen, now that we're all here, let me introduce myself. I am the Doctor and this is
(Bambera fires a shot that bounces off the knight's armour. The knight laughs and raises his visor.)
Ancelyn: Mordred.
Mordred: Ancelyn. Fitting that you should die amongst peasants.
Ancelyn: Look again, Mordred.
The Doctor: Do you recognise me?
Mordred: Merlin!
Ace: Not again.
Mordred: You were bound. My mother sealed you into the ice caves for all eternity.
The Doctor: I am the master of time. I cannot be bound so easily.
Mordred: Master of lies.
Ancelyn: Beware your tongue, Mordred. Have you so easily forgotten Baden, hmm? The way he cast down your mother with his mighty arts.
The Doctor: Yes, remember Baden and my mighty arts. Do you think I would use mere trickery against someone as formidable as you? Go, before I unleash a terrible something on you.
Ancelyn: Go, Mordred, while you still live.
Mordred: There will be a reckoning, Ancelyn. I have sworn it. As for you, Merlin, my mother has waited twelve centuries to face you. You will bow down before her this time.
(The knights leave the way they came)
Ace: Who was he?
The Doctor: That was Mordred, and his mother is Morgaine, a mighty sorceress.
Shou: You know these guys then?
The Doctor: Never met them before.
Battlefield – Part 3
Ancelyn: My lord Merlin.
The Brigadier: Merlin?
Ancelyn: Oh, he has many names.
The Brigadier: He has many faces. And he has many companions. This must be the latest one.
Bambera: We've checked the perimeter. Doctor Warmsly is staying with the vehicles.
The Brigadier: Oh, thank you, Bambera. Oh, see if you can get a blanket for this young lady, will you?
Bambera: Yes, sir. Perhaps I should make some tea, too.
(Bambera leaves.)
The Brigadier: Well, are you all right, Miss?
Ace: Just call me the latest one, and I can get my own blanket.
(Ace and Shou Yuing leave.)
The Brigadier: Oh dear. Women. Not really my field.
The Doctor: Don't worry, Brigadier. People will be shooting at you soon.

Battlefield – Part 4
The Doctor: It's no good. It's not good at all.
The Brigadier: I can have an air strike here in minutes.
The Doctor: It's no good, Brigadier. Conventional weapons won't harm it.
The Brigadier: No, I didn't think so.
The Doctor: Ace, give me the silver bullets.
Ace: How did you know?
The Doctor: Silver bullets'll do the trick.
Ace: How did you know I had them?
The Doctor: It's all a matter of timing, Ace. Give me your gun.
(The Brigadier hands over his revolver.)
The Brigadier: What, those will stop the Destroyer? What, you just shoot the bullets into it?
(The Doctor loads the revolver.)
The Doctor: Simple, isn't it? Just like most killings.
The Brigadier: Good lord, is that a spaceship?
(Ace and The Doctor turn and looks up, and the Brigadier chops the Doctor across the throat, knocking him out. He grabs back his the revolver.)
Ace: You scumbag!
The Brigadier: Sorry, Doctor, but I think I'm rather more expendable than you are.
The Destroyer: This world shall be mine. And then another, and another. (Green explosions come out of the castle. The Brigadier walks in.) Ah, little man. What do you want of me?
The Brigadier: Get off my world.

The Visitation

The Doctor and chums get embroiled in another set of shenanigans. Also featuring an actor that used to appear in ... something on ITV . Ahem.
Reasonable enough.

Doctor Who over the years: Episode quotes
Ghost Light – Part 1
Ace: It's true, isn't it. This is the house I told you about.
The Doctor: You were thirteen. You climbed over the wall for a dare.
Ace: That's your surprise, isn't it, bringing me back here.
The Doctor: Remind me what it was that you sensed when you entered this deserted house. An aura of intense evil?
Ace: Don't you have things you hate?
The Doctor: I can't stand burnt toast. I loathe bus stations. Terrible places, full of lost luggage and lost souls.
Ace: I told you I never wanted to come back here again.
The Doctor: Then there's unrequited love, and tyranny, and cruelty.
Ace: Too right.
The Doctor: We all have a universe of our own terrors to face.
Ace: I face mine on my own terms.
Ghost Light – Part 2
(The Doctor tries pushing a coloured rod back into the control panel. It pops back up and more steam gushes out of a vent at the side of the glowing panel. He hangs the dish cover over the vent. Josiah steps forward.)
Ace: Don't try anything.
The Doctor: Oh, not a patch on the Flying Scotsman.
Josiah: Nimrod! Get up, you fool. It's got to be stopped.
The Doctor: Better not to move him.
Ace: He fell against that thing.
The Doctor: He disturbed whatever's hibernating inside.
Josiah: Don't touch it!
(Josiah falls to his knees.)
Ace: You're scared of it too, just like the others.
The Doctor: Because you know what's in there, don't you, Josiah?
Josiah: There's an energy escape. I must stop it.
The Doctor: Don't worry. I always leave these things to the last moment. These husks. Old cast-offs of yours, I take it?
Ace: They attacked Nimrod and me.
Josiah: You're insane! If the membrane is broken
The Doctor: Yes?
(A section of the wall lights up with a formula.)
Ace: Oh, what?
The Doctor: Genetic codes.
Ace: DNA.
(Behind their backs, Josiah reaches into a drawer in the table.)
The Doctor: You've done a lot of exploring in here, haven't you, Josiah?
Ace: This is a stone spaceship.
The Doctor: Yes, and the real owner won't be pleased when it wakes up.
(Josiah has got a gun.)
Josiah: I am the real owner.
The Doctor: Oh no, you're not. You're just part of the cargo.
Josiah: You're so smug and self-satisfied, Doctor.
The Doctor: I try.
Ace: Drop it.
Josiah: I'm not a simpleton. That device is a radiation detector, not a gun. (The Doctor takes it back and puts it in his pocket.) You're going to help me stabilise the energy loss, or most of southern England goes up in a firestorm.
Ghost Light – Part 3
(Control is wearing a Victorian dress and trying on hats in front of a dressing table mirror.)
Redvers: The handsomest woman Redvers ever saw was daughter to an N'Taba chief, but she had a bone through her nose and ate her cousin for breakfast.
Control: Will Control be ladylike? Want so much.
Redvers: Once this hunt is over, I'll make you the finest ladylike in the Empire.
(The Doctor enters.)
The Doctor: Having fun, Control?
Control: You! You come taking away Control's freeness.
The Doctor: Control, I've come to help you and to ask you for your help.
Control: No help. It's mine. You won't take it.
The Doctor: No, Control, don't! (Control jumps through the window.) Come back! Bah. You won't get far!
Redvers: Of course, if she was a real lady, I wouldn't be in her boudoir.
The Doctor: Oh, things are getting out of control. Even I can't play this many games at once.
Redvers: Then help me. Help me with my hunt.
The Doctor: I haven't got time, Redvers.
Redvers: But I'm hunting the rarest creature in the world. The crowned Saxe-Coburg. Look.
(Redvers give the Doctor a picture of the widowed Queen Victoria.)
The Doctor: Really? And who's sponsoring the expedition, Josiah Samuel Smith?
Redvers: When I find it, I shall shoot it.

The Power Of Kroll

A lot of fun. Barely disguised liberalism from the Marxists at the been ... what's wrong with strip mining anyhow?
Metaphors be damned as the opposition are literally green ahem. Plus Leeson and Baker take the piss royally in the comm.
