A lot of effects companies go out of business. The Oscar winning effects team that worked on life of pi filed for banrupcy at the same time they won the award. It's like the video games industry. A lot of people think it's a gateway to wealth when a lot of it isn't especially well paid. Even if you go back to the days of practical effects. For every stan Winston you had dozens of others making very little. Even Tom Savini didn't make a fortune In the industry. It's one of the reasons he continued doing festivals. |

The input from all three individuals adds to the overall product that's created. From the way I see it, Disney certainly aren't an incompetent company. But from what has transpired since 2015 with The Force Awakens, and now The Last Jedi, you have to think that maybe Disney would also like to see the back of Star Wars altogether. There's no question that Disney also want to milk the franchise until it's like an empty husk for monetary gain, that's an absolute dead cert, but now you have Solo, and the casting of the main actor is very suspect, when you have a potential three actors that could've of played the part of Solo, and actually looked like the main protagonist, Harrison Ford. There's obviously some highly inept casting director's in Hollywood, or maybe Disney just want's to bring a stain to what went before. It's more like a scorched earth policy. Every useful character is either killed or stripped of any sense of what went before without any respect to the past. Star Wars certainly deserved far better than this. |

I think this is more about the over saturation of effects companies providing visual effects to film companies, than about pay structures in these effect houses. Boss Film Corp run by Oscar winner Richard Edlund couldn't compete with ILM back in the 1990's, so the effects house closed. Edlund said in an L.A. Times article that effects companies paid their staff exceptionally decent salaries for the work they did on a number of film projects his Boss Film Corp. were involved in, like Die Hard, Predator and Hunt for Red October. But we're not talking about the video games industry here.

Popcorn at the ready for the start of yet another “discussion” about how good/bad the film is 1C918B62-2C06-49C6-B792-35BA81CDF93C-31343-000013D20783364F.jpeg
