I approve of Ferrara's BS too and especially like the tense moment where the male lead needs to steal a Helicopter but has to get past his Pod-possessed friends first. One of whom tries to trick the relevant human into showing emotion by making a certain comment about our hero's love interest. Bug is brilliant Dem so see it a.s.a.p. The scene where Bradford Dillman's character wakes up to find some of the titular terrors feasting on his flesh is suitably memorable and i like the low-angle shot as the protagonist frantically brushes the caustic creepy crawlies off his body! Yours truly also likes Buck Rogers In The 25th Century and Battlestar Galactica.

I've yet to watch this film all the way through but i do like what i've seen so far and i'll not be at all surprised if Robert Wise's original rules over the TV revamp from a while back. It's been years since my first and only viewing of Douglas Trumbull's directorial debut and i recall enjoying it. So a second screening sooner or later would be welcome. Got this as part of Cinema Club's Doug McClure box set a few years ago and it's still amongst my myriad of titles to be watched. God knows when though! Riotous automobile mayhem and i reckon the recent R1 DVD and BR releases will remain the final word on Corman's car-crammed cult classic for quite some time.

Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972)
Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972). After the first film, this is my 2nd fav in the Apes series, lots of action and a good old punch up at the end between apes and man.Although the allegory with the apes and slavery is a bit heavy handed. In a futuristic world that has embraced ape slavery, Caesar, the son of the late simians Cornelius and Zira, surfaces after almost twenty years of hiding out from the authorities, and prepares for a slave revolt against humanity. |

A true trash cinema classic imo and one i'd like to see Arrow breath new life into sooner or later. Never seen this despite wanting to when i was younger and i'm afraid the late John Frankenheimer's '96 reviled remake is the best i can do at the mo. Quote:
All SW entries are a tad overrated imo but i can still watch and enjoy 'em all. Yeah, you heard that right, all of 'em including those three!

Z.P.G. (1972)
In the not too distant future, a very smoggy and overpopulated Earth government makes it illegal to have children for a generation. One couple, unsatisfied with their substitute robot baby, breaks the rules and gets in a lot of trouble.

The horror.. I just realised I don't have Warlords Of Atlantis! I have the other McClure's as Midnite Movies but forgot they didn't release this. I wonder if it'll get a reissue. At The Earth's Core has just shown up at the BBFC from Studio Canal. |
