I hate to love Zardoz, but Zardoz believes that the gun is good so he must be an alright guy! :P

Battle for the Planet of the Apes (1973)
Battle for the Planet of the Apes (1973). Basically rehasing ideas from Beneath the Planet of the Apes, the series was loosing steam by the 5th film, but if your like me and enjoy apes running around with guns then theres lots of fun to be had in the last entrty.Special big up to the late Claude Akins, who plays a great General Aldo. Ten years after conquering the Earth, ape leader Caesar wants the ruling apes and enslaved humans to live in peace. But warring factions of apes led by a militant gorilla general as well as various human groups threaten the stability. |

Who remembers The tv series of Ray Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles? I remember seeing this either in the late 70s or early 80s and absolutely adoring it. I would love to see it again to see if it still holds up.

I loved The Martian Chronicles when it it was first on on Saturday nights. I bought the dvd a couple of years ago and it bored the hell out of me. If anyone wants a trade for the Region 1 release let me know. Any old crap will do. |

i've had the region 1 release for years, it's pretty cool but has some really ropey special FX compared to some of the films that came out in 70s. It's very long but very interesting. Definitely worth picking up.

I must give a mention to the mighty juggernaught that is (The original) Rollerball. I still pull out my old Warner Bros VHS of this and enjoy it every time. James Caan is superb as Johnathon E and the action scenes are both exciting and brutal. There is a lot more to this movie in both plot and set peices. Forget the lily-livered remake and go for the original and best. You won't regret it.
