Patrick Troughton as Dr Who-he was far more scarier than the Daleks and Cybermen put together! Fond memories of watching these as a nipper!

Easily one if my all time favorites on plot alone. The fact that Pertwee and Sladen where on top form as well is no small miracle. Great effects for the season to, an essential watch in my opinion.

The Day of the Triffids err [1981]
The Day of the Triffids. Apolagies,i was so convinced that this was a 1970's tv series,i did'nt bother checking my facts.Turned out it was 1981 ,but it does look alittle like the 1970's . When a comet blinds nearly everyone in the world, a genetically-engineered species of plant takes over |

I also get stuck with the thread title. I was going to post The Two Doctors, with the Sontarans, except its the mid eighties. You need to start a sixties sci-fi thread and an eighties one Vic. |

Children of the Stones (1977)
Children of the Stones (1977) Great 70's childrens fantasy, with plenty of famiiar faces, kind of cross between The Tomorrow People and DR Who,loads of nostalgia to enjoy, and even some morris dancers. All is not as it should be in Milbury, a sleepy English village surrounded by a megalithic stone circle. Astrophysicist Adam Brake (Gareth Thomas, Blakes 7) and his teenage son, Matthew, arrive to research the standing stones, but end up delving into the past in ways they never expected. What are the secrets of the ancient stones. What power does the druid inspired Rafael Hendrick (Iain Cuthbertson, Gorillas in the Mist) have over the villages trancelike happy ones. And is it true that nobody ever leaves the circle. |
