Good choice id go for the New York dolls personally,I found Split Second not as good as my memory had me to believe.

Default The Giant Spider Invasion (1975)

The Giant Spider Invasion (1975)

What ever you may think of Bill Rebane's Giant Spider Invasion,at least it does what it says on the tin,or more importantly the dvd case,it does have a bloody big spider in it.Now it may be a spider built over a Volkswagen Beetle and cost less the 10,000 dollars to make but well at least they tried.I mean any one else would of just hired someone to do some stop motion animation, but not Bill he decided he actually needed a spider the size of a small house. And since no one has ever seen an actual spider that size who are we to argue,I mean to you and I it looks like a giant puppet being projectiled by a Volkswagen with its gangling legs flaying up and down like a couple of pistons, but perhaps that what they look like?.Any case in the town of Merrill, Wisconsin there is a mysterious meteor shower ,very similar to the one in the Creepshow episode "The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill",theirs a crater where strange looking rocks encrusted with what looks diamonds are found.Of course before you can say cattle mutilation, theirs cattle being mutilated, women in hot pants and in some case just pants being harassed by some spider who kind of look like puppets and lots of poor innocent pet tarantulas being stamped on and treated pretty badly, where's PETA when you need them. Before you know it the towns folk are up in arms, and in the back of pick up trucks trying to kill the worlds biggest floor mop. Also there a fundamentalist preacher spouting off every so often just in case we needed waking up in the ensuing struggle between man and hairy arachnid . Giant Spider Invasion is the kind of film people all ways say "its so bad its good" (to be honest I never thought that made any sense) ,its actually allot of fun if your in the right frame of mind, and im pretty sure without this movie you would not have had any of those direct to dvd films like Sharks Vs Toads you see on the shelves of your local supermarket. This was also pretty much on BBC 2 double bill of horror quite often, which is where I first saw it , Tis a shame all Uk releases are pretty pants in the PQ department, you get a better view of the spider in the Trailer, all in all just good old hairy fun.
