LOL, DVD Delirium begins its review with the following

- "So whats it all about?" This question commonly pops up from fist time viewers of Repo Man.

Well i have seen it a few times although not for a few years and i am struggling to even think of an answer to that. A critique of the Reagan era? Definately. Other than that i can't help ya, but i bet you kinda liked it and if you did then i think that is simply the answer. If you didn't like it, then it isn't the answer, lol.

I like the fact that it was THE film that had the word "mother****er" dubbed for TV as "Melonfarmer".

If you liked it, try out "Straight to Hell" for size, if you didn't, don't bother with "Straight to Hell".

I gather after re-reading the above that what i have written isn't that helpful, oh well, thats "Repo Man" for ya.

Repo Man is indeed a strange little film and it's not one I really like. It's trying to be a cult a movie and so it all comes off as pretentious and silly.

Not seen Walker - worth a look?

Yes Walker is definitely worth a look, ED Harris gives his best performance as walker and Joe Strummer's score is superb. The best dvd to get is the Criterion edition as the UK disc has no extras and is cut by the bbfc ( horse falls )

I'll make a point of seeing this, then. I tended to avoid anything with Cox's name attached after seeing Repo Man and being decidedly unimpressed with it.

His name did put me off at first after seeing the ropey Sid And Nancy.

Those after a real 80's influenced cult/punk/road/adic movie should (try and) watch The Bikini Bandits. One of, if not THE most bizarre 'film' ive ever seen.

Includes guest appearances from Dee Dee Ramone, Maynard from Tool, and i think Jello Biafra of the Dead Kennedys.

I would agree there.Ironically on its Moviedrome screening it was shown intact depite the BBFC cinema cuts.I'm no fan of Repo Man or Straight To Hell.

Repo Man is a fabulous film! Utterly nuts from beginning to end. One of my all time cult faves. I might go and watch it as a result. Cheers Jim!!

PS A great soundtrack too...
